I have replaced all 5 of the 4-inch speakers in my Raptor with Infinity 4032's. This made a noticeable improvement in sound quality (more presence / life like). It has me thinking that with a decent speaker replacement plan I can possibly get by without the mobridge amp upgrade. As a rule, I usually don't play it that loud anymore.

In my previous Bronco (base audio) I used some Rockford Fosgate Prime 6.75 components in the kick panels and just did not use the tweeters. This has me wondering what to do with the B&O 6.5s kick panels. It seems to me that efficiency is very important, and the speaker will only reproduce what the B&O dsp / amp feeds it (ie: morels would be over kill). The DS18's are 96db @ 1 watt (hard to find something more efficient).

Does anyone have suggestions on a mid-bass speaker for our kick panels?

Additionally the metra harnesses: Metra 72-5602 Speaker Wiring Harness For select 2011-up Ford and Mazda vehicles at Crutchfield seem to have the "extra loop" for wiring the kick panle & dash speaker in parallel (base audio). Is this the correct harness to the B&O system?

Thanks

I went chasing this mid-bass dragon for a while, but finally just kinda of gave up on it.

I started with the Infinity Coax, shifted to the Infinity 2-ways (hooked up the crossover but left the tweeter out). Sealed it up fairly well and such.

I can make the floorboard shake and the dash rattle, but it still doesn't sound great.

Maybe someone has one that works miracles. There was another post about this a couple of weeks ago - but it's hard to tell since someone's "OMG it's AWESOME" is another person's "Meh."

For your harness:
Not sure, I think it has the same harness, the wiring on the loop just isn't hooked up and there's a separate wire going to the dash speakers from the DSP - the wiring diagram shows they are ~not~ wired in parallel like they are in the 7-channel system. But I don't know for certain if they use the same harness on the speaker or not.

I'm also trying to avoid A to B module and upgrade to B&O even though I have very nice Audison 8.9 and Kenwood XR 1001.1 amps etc I am curious how well B&O will sound with speakers.

So far it's great at below level 22 then the cheap MB Quart sub seems to be at its limit. I will get a new higher grade sub soon. No issues with mid bass at all. Really kicks.

I highly recommend Hertz MP165.3 3 ohm 6.5 for kicks with sound deadening, spacer, and 1" high density foam ring.

Also must have high grade source music.

If it's not enough at least I have everything upgraded just need to plug in the A to B and amps and tune.

I used the Infinity 407s in the 3 dash and 2 rear pod locations. Installed Memphis Mojo Pros in the kick panels and it’s like a different/WAY better system entirely. I may have used the Memphis Audio 2s if I had known they were 4 ohms though. I selected the surround sound option in the center screen also. No Forscan adjustments were made and I now have great sound quality and bass up front.

I tried kicker k series in the kick panels and did not notice much difference. I then upgraded to the mobridge amp and it was a very noticeable improvement. I then upgraded the kickers to audiofrog gs60 and did not notice a massive difference (to justify the $$). To sum up, the kick speakers need power and any decent speaker.

Memphis MJP6s have a sensitivity of 100db. Hard to beat that efficiency.
Issue is they are incredibly boomy, sensitivity is quoted as a peak figure. What this means is that sensitivity might be at 200hz and yet at 80-120hz (where your punch is) it might be 80db. These speakers are loud but by no means accurate. Stats are easy to manipulate! Notice how they dont post a frequency vs power chart... thats why

It is really tough to get the kicks to sound good. The issue is there is just no airspace there. No matter how much money and power you throw at it speakers wont sound as good as they should.

To be fair this is exactly what most folks are looking for in the kick panel area, they don’t even know what an “accurate” speaker sounds like.

Thank you...

I am beginning to wonder if this will turn into "chasing a snake thru a swamp". No matter what we do, we are working on a Bronco. It is a fairly noisy vehicle, does not compare to the wife's GV70. If that isn't bad enough "most" of what I listen to is 2 track soundboards (dead / panic / mule / ABB) ripped to 320 mp3. The input is "good" but not audiophile. I'm not sure a true audiophile "flat / accurate" system would sound good to me in the bronco. I'd prefer something that can make "live at Leeds" or "Sticky Fingers" sound good to me.

Choice 1 is to use the B&O amp / dsp (special shout out to the great folks at Mobridge who have been great to deal with on the phone), I'm not sure my listening warrants the Mobridge setup. That said if I can't find enough audio happiness, that would be the next step.

I may wind up with infinity / JBL 6.5 inch components (and not use the tweeters), Crutchfield seems to say they do not fit, but I've read otherwise. Also, they will blend well with the infinity 4032s.

I find the B&O with mid grade speaker upgrade $1200) to be great for 95% using 320 kbs and lossless until level 22.

On many tracks bass is weak on others it's excellent.

With top off definitely need massive upgrade which I have on hand except AtoB module....

Definitely want to keep coax in corners, center and pods woofers with good upgrade so you're ready to do amps any time. Even the cheap MB Quart 4+4 sub made a difference especially with three layers sound deadening on the enclosure.

For whatever it’s worth, I went with the MObridge Bronco kit and used Morel Hybird MW6 MKII speakers in the kick location. 100% agree the airspace limits what these speakers could do in a better environment but, as a guy who spent almost a decade with a working rock band, I can tell you they sound amazing paired with the MObridge amp and dialed in correctly. Top on, and despite the challenges of the Bronco itself, the sound rivals about any system south of comp systems. Top off, it’s plenty even at highway speeds.

I found reasonable success with HERTZ C135L's in the kick location...

If you go with Morel Hybird MW6 MKII and build out the kick panel with deadening to make a seal you’ll be fine. Initially didn’t do that and so much air was leaking from the crappy foam piece ford puts in there. You can leave the foam but just use material on the inside to build out.
