Great info! Yeah definitely wouldn't tackle this myself. When I had my Mustang always took it to a professional for rear end work. This seems a bit more complicated than having someone just changing the ring and pinion though lolMore the pay attention to everything.
It's true the axles are different lengths if you have the standard rear end vs the ELD rear end. The pumpkin rides 1" different between the two - why, I don't know. I have one of each and took the measurements in another post somewhere.
Also, if you have the standard rear end, your ring gear is welded to the carrier, so you have to replace that.
So, just using TruLock as an example - if you used the standard rear end, you could reuse the same axles. And the TruLock for the '21 Bronco does have the correct spline count (32). But you need a new ring gear. The TruLock replaces the carrier. You'd need new carrier bearings and you'd have to re-shim the carrier and pinion because of different clearances.
So it's more than just bolt it on, and while it ~can~ be done under the shade tree, it's not what I would call easy, there's some specialty tools involved, and it's much better done at a re-gear shop.
