MD210 Finally kapoot

Got a call today and was informed my vehicle was ready, so I asked if they did a front end alignment. He said no, I asked why, he said that pinion seal was replaced. That's great news, however they should be more specific when they talk over the phone. Either way I'm glad it's only a seal.
Looking forward to meeting some of you guys on the trail one day...

How about the transfer case or manual tranny? Just wondering since it seems like I’ve seen those being replaced also, maybe different issue.

I have noticed the drive shaft and cv axles are replaced for a torn boot.
We used to rebuild simple items like break cylinders rather than replace. I must say it’s nicer to swap something than rebuild it, that’s for sure.

Auto and manual transmission are almost always rebuilt. I’m rebuilding an MT82 in a mustang at the moment.

Transfer case depends on the failure.

A lot of things, like mentioned earlier, are just cheaper to replace than rebuild now because the labor involved.

I lean more toward supply chain differences as the FDU seals are primarily failing on 2022s.
