MIC Top Weatherstrip Issues Faulty top?

Has anyone else had an issue with their MIC top weather strip deteriorating?

I had a small 1 inch gap on the passenger side of my 2 door. Removable panel weatherstrip that seals the top of door glass. Didn't notice it until it rained. I had some weatherstripping laying around, simple fix.

Mine is a bit more than that and I’m wondering how they are going to remedy it. At what point is it defective?
