177 miles on Bilstein 6100's and done! Shock top is coming out. A real confidence builder. No other lift, clip position 5, stock tires and wheels. 21 Badlands, no Sasquatch. 39K and a THIRD shock!

Wow! No matter what kind of wheeling you were doing, looks like something serious, the shock shouldn’t fail like that.

Likely a bad build, so I’m sure they’ll replace for free and hopefully the entire set.

Well, that confirms it for me, it’ll be Fox when i upgrade. I love ICON, but want a softer coilover for ride quality here in the city, if that ain’t nothing. A little more cush on the trials is a plus, but I like the ride when running trails. :)

Just an old RR bed to test and settle it to check ride height and some around town stuff. Very disappointing. I just couldn't see spending more than needed on this.

I've had my 6100 for a while and I've done some decent amount of wheeling with them... no issues so far 🤷‍♂️

Crap, probably a bad batch which means others will have an issue.
I would have thought that these tops would be threaded instead of pressed. I've already started a claim with the supplier. I will update this post as it develops. I more than likely will have to pay for a new shock or shocks, then wait for a credit when they receive the defective part or parts. What really bites is that I've already generously paid to fix someone's blunder with this shock issue. Luckily , as far as I know, when my original reservoir fell off, it didn't go through a windshield. I must say that I think Ford is taking a gamble with this recall strategy.

Update: A new replacement shock has arrived directly from Bilstein and they have issued a return label for the leaking shock so they can examine it.
The seller, SuspensionLifts.com, wanted me to cut it in half and take a photo, then charge me $20 to ship a new one. Who does that help! I caution against buying from them.

Ive had mine for a year and a half, and done some tough trails with them..... will have to look at them close this weekend? Haven't seen any oil anywhere. I have not heard of a bunch of issues with these?

Yes, I'm hoping it was an isolated incident. I will know more when they can look at it.

Are you a 2 door or a 4 door? Almost looks like its getting over extended ? I think a 2 door non Sasquatch gets the most lift according to the lift chart?

It's a 4 door Badlands. Clip position 5 so not even at max preload. I was told that the dust cap is pressed in but the cap below the dust cap is held in place with a snap ring. Over extension or repeated hard topping out of the shock is what you would think from the photo, but with 177 miles on the shocks, and the Bronco never leaving the ground, I think the snap ring may have not been seated correctly.
