Guys, I know it's not a hairy chested, 800hp, one ton axled, tractor tire fitted toy...I had one of those and it was fun. Look at my channel, there are numerous vehicles that wheel and my black ranger (swamp donkey)with the exoskeleton has been rolled twice by me and up to the middle of the windshield in water and mud due to "when in doubt, throttle out". This is a new direction, wife driving a newer vehicle. Do we spend $50,000 on a bare bones sasquach bronco that she's the primary driver (I have a f-150 as a daily) or do we spend $50,000 on a fully loaded Bronco Sport badlands? I wanted the full size, she wanted a comfortable vehicle. Now the question is, how capable is it and can it do what we want?
So far, it has impressed me and clearance is the issue. Can a lift give me the clearance to do what we want (and it's not up to the windshield in mud and water! lol!!) It appears, so far, locked diffs, lower gears and clearance is all we need for what she will allow the bronco sport to be put through. Anyway, the plan is still to trade it in on a Badlands full size in the future, just with the way this is working now....maybe we will wait more than a year after buying it, lol.

LOL, yeah the new one is up now. The "2dr guys"...if I had my choice, I'd have a 2dr bronco sport! With a manual! And low range!...lol.

She misses the point even though her concerns are valid (and the reason the wife got a badlands bronco sport instead of a bare bones bronco. (with 3.73's and open diffs)

Here's our latest with the "baby bronco". Everyone else is on 35's or bigger and one newer toyota on 31's wouldn't go more than half way...but we did, lol.

Well, after driving a bronco sport for 2 years and after driving numerous full size we decided it was time to make the decision to either get a Bronco badlands or stick with a Bronco Sport Badlands...
Do we trade off more off road capability for better mileage and on road handling??
Both have their pros and cons, we owned one and drove numerous full size, this was our final decision;

My thoughts on the whole saga, just reading it for the first time.
There is a lot of ignorance, denial and butt hurt about how capable a Badlands Sport truly is. Ford took one to Moab and hit some of the tougher obstacles and it went through everything the full size Badlands did, no issues.
It's like an Outback, but on steroids. Rock gardens, no, not a chance, but there is a whole ton of other stuff besides rock gardens.
I'll push this even farther, on the road, as a Pavement Princess, equally equipped (tires), the Sport AWD system is better suited than the 6G's system for 98% of winter driving, similar to a Subaru Outback, even with the full size 4A versions.
Although, putting true winter tires on a full size with Advanced transfer case would make a formidable snow car, putting the same winters on a Sport or an Outback (and I have) , they become insanely capable.
The tires are such an important piece of this puzzle, it's why I have been keeping an eye out for Nokian's new Outpost nAT tire. That company was built on stellar winter performance, even for their "non-winter" tires.
People conveniently forget about this...

Its why I have both! They each have their advantages but are definitely not in the same class of vehicles. I love my sport as a daily driver and great in the snow. But for shear driving enjoyment for me, it just doesn’t compare to my 2 door manual Heritage. Plus, having the Sport, allows my Heritage to take the winter (salt) off. I got the Sport while waiting on the 2dr with the intention of giving to my wife or trading it in. She didn’t want it so……. I kept it to drive in the winter.
I tried a four door Badlands for the wife, with the possible thought of selling the 2dr ... IF.. she loved the 4dr.
She did not, she's hooked on those Outbacks. They're a great vehicle, but yaaaawn.
So the moar door got traded in on another Subie. Beauty of it is, she found a really nice older one she liked, so we saved a ton o'money on the deal. The Badlands was a Grangtober special, so I bought at a great price.
One thing I learned, I loved the soft top, so convenient!!
A bit noisy, but we did two long haul family vacations in it and really have no complaints. It was livable.
