Jeep offers a manual transmission for 4-door Base. Why not the Bronco?

Biggest disappointment of the B&P night for me. I don't understand Ford's decision. What manufacturer doesn't offer a manual on the base model, if they offer it at all?

The manual is now a premium option, that is.. if you want it with any packages you need to splurge for the Badlands.

Looks like you can get the 4-door with a manual in Big Bend, thank god.

I don't want hot vinyl seats and I don't want any additional electronic nannies (looking at you, Mid Package).

I thought that this was a misprint early on and it was addressed and confirmed that 4door base wold be available with manual, but now the B&P says no. I hope this is a glitch. I don’t want to go up trim level or go with a 2 door

I just saw this thread and I agree completely. Kind of leaves me out in the cold. Ford doesn't care about entry and mid level customers anymore.

No it's not.

You're talking about mid-package with manual.

A manual is available on BB, BD and BL.

OBX doesn't have it and WT only because it's defaulted to a v6.

The OP is right though. It's odd that don't offer it on the base trim as most manufacturers only offer manuals on base trims.

Dang it guys, as much as I've played with the build and price and my own spreadsheets, I just realized for some reason that the 2.7L is $1,895. For some reason I thought it was a $300 option on top of an automatic transmission. I could have sworn... Now I have more thinking to do. :poop:

Edit: S#$%. I see what I did. That is indeed the case when you upgrade from the manual on the 4 door Big Bend but not on the base model.

I believe stock Base, BB and BD come standard with manual. Maybe when you start adding packages and stuff it might force auto...

My bad, missed that. I've only been building 2-doors. Hmmm that is odd though.
Yup...
Wife would say "that's perfect, even less expensive since you were considering an auto" and I'd say, grumble grumble grumble.

I may be the only one, but to me the base is the best looking Bronco - the steelies are a must have. I'm planning on getting a Big Bend and swapping wheels with someone, which isn't a huge sacrifice since I like most of the upgrades on the BB.

The most common option takes on the base 4D Wranglers are:

Hard top
Automatic transmission

Ford just undercut Jeep $1600

That's big money for the budget minded shopper.

The 2D Bronco undercuts the 2D Wrangler even deeper with 4 more standard features than the Jeep:
Hard top
Power windows and locks
Remote access
Air conditioning (!!!)

Your numbers don’t add up.

The 4-door Wrangler starts at $31,795 (with a manual). Adding the auto costs $1500. Total cost: $33,295

The 4-door Bronco (with auto included) starts at $33,200. A difference of $95 to entice prospective cross-shoppers? Come on.

If the Bronco base 4-door could be had with the manual (presumably for $1600 less), it would be priced at $31,600, undercutting Jeep by $195. That’s $100 more “savings” than the example you keep trotting out!

And you're conveniently ignoring that you have to step up to the +37,000 4D Wrangler Sport S to get the 4D Base Bronco' s power windows.
That's also the trim you need to get a 8" center consolescreen.( $2000 more IIRC ???)
The Bronco MIC top is way cheaper than the Wranglers.
The Wrangler also needs the +$600 tire carrier if you want to step up to 35"tires.

The list goes on.
