This package from Ford reads “WARTHOG BEAUTY RING KIT”.

I am convinced WARTHOG was going to be the official name for Bronco Raptor.
Too many documents, labels, and packages that reference WARTHOG for it to have simply been a code name.
Ford themselves even filed a patent for WARTHOG prior to the release.

When people hear RAPTOR, they immediately think of the F-150 truck, not Bronco.
Case in point, if this package read, “RAPTOR BEAUTY RING KIT” you would have no idea which Raptor vehicle it is for (F-150? Ranger? or Bronco?)

The Warthog name suits the Bronco so much better than Raptor.
Ranger Raptor is ok since it is a truck, but Bronco Raptor should have been called WARTHOG.

A missed opportunity on Ford’s part.

It was always Raptor. Never once was it "Warthog" outside of product development

Also, manufacturers use code names for products all of the time.
100% true statement. It's how it works in Product Development.

My mind goes a different direction when I hear Warthog. I agree though, Broncos should be Warthog. Raptors have their place, just not in the Bronco stable.

I think you are right, but I’m guessing Ford will use Raptor as an a sub-brand, the same way Mercedes-Benz uses AMG, across models.

I have often thought that same and completely agree. And sadly, the new products were good enough on their own that you didn't need to cannibalize name recognition to make it marketable.

I couldn't help but notice your profile pic is one of the 4400 class race broncos, which have a wheelbase a few inches longer than a 4 door. But if it helps you sleep at night, keep telling yourself those stubby 2 doors are somehow superior.

I couldn't help but notice your profile pic is one of the 4400 class race broncos, which have a wheelbase a few inches longer than a 4 door. But if it helps you sleep at night, keep telling yourself those stubby 2 doors are somehow superior.
I most certianly will.

By the way, none of these long whales has won KOH and they honestly barely finish.

However, in the 4600 stock class, a 2 Dr podiums every time; usually in a win.

So, if you‘re a Moar door, you‘ll stick to your story and are welcome to. I’m sticking to mine as well. Americans can never agree on anything these days.

Complete non sequitur here....

All you can say is that relative to ITS peer trucks the 4600 Bronco (nearly factory chassis) performs better than the 4400 Bronco (full custom tubular chassis) relative to ITS peer trucks. You certainly can't compare the trucks directly.

Although not intimately familiar with these trucks/classes/races, I'd be willing to bet any 4400 truck would demolish any 4600 truck on any course.

So continuing with the non sequiturs, 4DR Broncos are better, faster, tougher and more capable than 2DRs. 😁
