Let me start by saying I do own a Bronco Big Bend Cyber Yellow that I bought off the lot with a 4k ADM. I love it but want to get a MIC, Lux, Sas, Badlands. I bought the CO BB because I knew it would be a long wait for what I want. I figured I'd use the extra time to make sure this type of vehicle would work for my family. Turns out the entire family is in love and we are all talking about ordering one when the banks open up next.

I've searched the threads and haven't found comprehensive answers, so I am hoping this might help more than just me. If there is a thread that answers these questions feel free to point me in that direction instead.

- How are dealers allocated Broncos? Is it by total volume at the dealership? Numbers of orders? Is there an easy way to find this number out without relying on the dealership to tell me?
- How did you choose your dealer? Was it established relationship? Allocation? Proximity? Price agreement?
- I want an engaged salesperson. Are dealers supposed to have a Bronco Specialist or someone that would know the process vs. the new person giving car sales a try?
- Should a dealer be able to provide me the number of orders they already have waiting? Should I anticipate that means I go to the end of that line?
- Do you just call up and order it over the phone? Should I go in now, start the relationship and have them order the second the banks open?
- How have you price protected yourself from ADM once your build arrives? Should they have a standard price agreement document ready? Any documents here the forum would recommend?
- What might I be missing? What do you wish you knew when ordering? Any advice?

Thanks everyone, looking forward to the order banks coming back online!

Alright I'll take a serious stab at it.

- How are dealers allocated Broncos? Is it by total volume at the dealership? Numbers of orders? Is there an easy way to find this number out without relying on the dealership to tell me?
It's complicated and we are not provided the exact formula.

But generally speaking there are two allocation systems that work with one another.
  • Regional - This is to ensure vehicles are spread across the country and are not localized in one area. If this didn't exist some rural areas of the country wouldn't see anything.
  • Dealer - Based largely on previous sales performance. Better you do more vehicles you get.
The dealer is allocated a specific amount of vehicles for a set scheduling period (usually about a month of time). They they do not know their full allocation for the entire year, but sometimes Ford will provide (sometimes wildly inaccurate) yearly estimates. These numbers are not intended to be shared publicly, so most dealers will not share their yearly estimate numbers.

- How did you choose your dealer? Was it established relationship? Allocation? Proximity? Price agreement?
For me personally, I've worked with them before and bought three vehicles from them in the past. They were willing to come to a signed pricing agreement, so I just stuck with them.

- I want an engaged salesperson. Are dealers supposed to have a Bronco Specialist or someone that would know the process vs. the new person giving car sales a try?
This largely depends on the dealer. Some larger dealers will have a person dedicated to Broncos, some will not. At my dealer there not a single person dedicated to Broncos, but they do have a fleet sales specialist, a used car specialist, a retail sales specialist, etc. etc. I obviously have a retail order, so I worked with the retail sales specialist.

- Should a dealer be able to provide me the number of orders they already have waiting? Should I anticipate that means I go to the end of that line?
They can but many dealers do not. There is no rule that says they have to share that information with you. It largely depends on the dealer.

You will go back to the line, but the line is very non-sequential line. With all of the component shortages, whether you get picked for build is highly dependent on what you ordered and not when you ordered.

- Do you just call up and order it over the phone? Should I go in now, start the relationship and have them order the second the banks open?
I would go in—often when you talk on the phone you just get a receptionist or one of the lower-rank sales members who barely know what they're doing. BUT I would wait until the beginning of August. Order banks are rumored to open mid-August, so the beginning of August is probably a good time to start looking.

- How have you price protected yourself from ADM once your build arrives? Should they have a standard price agreement document ready? Any documents here the forum would recommend?
There needs to be an agreement in writing that both parties sign, and that document should list your order and the final selling cost of the vehicle. Not just the MSRP but the final selling cost of the vehicle.

Most dealers do this with a Buyer's Order or Purchase Agreement.
- What might I be missing? What do you wish you knew when ordering? Any advice?
The biggest thing most people have done wrong is signed an order preview sheet assuming that offers price protection. IT DOES NOT DO THAT. That order summary sheet lists the MSRP cost of the vehicle, and you by signing it have confirmed that you have reviewed the order summary and what was submitted to the ordering system is accurate. It makes zero guarantees in terms of pricing.

Thank you SO much!!! This is incredibly helpful and exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate you taking the time!

The last things I remember reading on here regarding allocations is that it was weighted more towards total vehicle sales which is what hurt the smaller dealers who were trying to offer the aggressive pricing when Ford made this change mid-game.

I chose my dealer because they were one of the highest volume dealers in my area AND they were willing to give me a signed sales agreement stating it would be at MSRP with no ADM.

You may find some dealerships with the Bronco specialists. At least one in my area did so you'll probably just have to call and ask.

An honest dealer should easily be able to tell you how many orders they have waiting. Mine was able to tell me this when I ordered.

The only way to get protected from ADM is to get a signed agreement at the time of order. They should give you an order spec sheet or "DORA" with the MSRP pricing on it. My dealer signed this saying that would be the purchase price.

Even though there are orders ahead of you, yours may be picked ahead of them based on the availability of parts for your build spec. I know this happened at my dealership mine got picked before the sales manager who was a day 2 reservation holder and I had no reservation at all. This was when the MIC top was scarce and mine was a soft top. Also make sure they give your order a "priority code" of 19 or greater.

Just be glad you have a Bronco to enjoy while you wait, because it most likely will be a long one.

I just requested a Buyers Order/Purchase agreement and received this response. Is there any truth to this?

" Unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to offer that since we would need a vin number and the vehicle here to have its OTD cost which would include its registration/taxes. The best we can offer is a build sheet that includes your order, and all the options you've selected, and all the prices break down for the MSRP, in which you'd sign and fill out. That would only be done after finishing the preorder and when the bank is open. "

Thanks

If they are not willing to do a buyer's order or purchase agreement, ask if they are willing to amend the build sheet with a statement stating the final selling price of the vehicle, along with any required documentation fees, and/or add-ons the dealer deems required.

Below is an example of the type of statement you are looking for. This particular example is what Town & Country Ford in Alabama uses for their customers. It doesn't have to be this exact statement, but same general idea.

The goal is to get some sort of agreement that lists the final selling price of the vehicle that includes everything except for taxes and vehicle/title registration fee, since those two items are controlled by your state government and not the dealer.

If you have already placed an order—which is likely since you are asking about this during a time when order banks are closed... it may be too late. Just have to hope the dealer doesn't screw you over.
