The order was not placed with Ford as the order banks for 2022 are not currently open.
^^^^ most likely this^^^

Also, the re-order for 2022 and 2023 is correct, IF they did place your order.
I wouldn't sweat too much until the 2022 order Banks open .... and then the wait begins.

OP never said he placed a 2022 order. He just said he placed an order. So if the 22 order banks are not open then he placed a 2021 order.

the way its going some people who put in reservation in 2020 well be MY23 I put one in on 8/17/20 for a 2 door and I be surprised to get before next summer ,crap I be surprise to get it before this date next year .
Really depends on semiconductors and if they have the hardtop issues sorted out. If they have parts they'll run non stop to get orders delivered.

The intent was the dealer is holding the order until 2022 order banks are open.
They don't want to bother with it at the moment.

2022 Order banks opens tomorrow

  • 2022 Initial Orders Acceptance -- 9/13/21
  • 2022 Scheduling Begins -- 10/14/21
  • 2022 Production Start Up -- 12/13/21
I would have thought the 2022 order guide would have been released by now if they are actually going to start accepting orders tomorrow.

Edited to add: It looks like the 2021 Order Guide was released on Jan 19. I believe that was the same day Ford started accepting MY21 orders so maybe an order date of Sept 13 for MY22 is still a possibility?

I'll put this succinctly, OP, at this point you have about 120,000 people with orders in front of you.

While the exact full-rate of production of the Bronco is unknown at this time, mostly due to commodity restraints, historically MAP can produce around 5,200 vehicles per week. The facility also manufactures Ford Rangers, so there is a split of production between Ranger and Bronco. With some assumptions on production split, your order is at a minimum well north of 52 weeks from production.

@bob.walnut12 So the dealer:
- Had you spec the Bronco using the 2021 Build and Price
- Told you they would place an order
- Knew they couldn't place an order until MY22 opens up
- AND Took $500 of your money?
- AND Didn't explain any of this to you?
Time to get your $500 back and find another dealer. Once MY22 order banks open up, there will likely be some model changes and price changes. There is a good chance you'll need to revisit your order. They should have told you to wait a couple of days and/or given more explanation.

My dealer also did $500 deposit to order, I am fine with that.

Yeah - they've been very unhelpful. Think they're confused themselves about the whole order process.

I'm taking the advice of @LowerSlowerDelaware and getting in touch with @DealerInsider. Tom - I'll reach out to you tomorrow.

Also to be fair - they haven't cashed the check yet. Going to make sure it remains that way.

Very smart move. My understanding is the deposits at the dealership are non refundable.

I put in my order on 9/1/2021 for an:

OBX 4 dr 2.3 l engine w/ sas w/ mod bumper w/soft top

My dealer did a $500 deposit which he said goes to my down payment.

No discounts so far. BUT my salesperson said that I should be able to expect my bronco by Q1 of 2022. The more I read in this forum, the less I believe that. What do y’all think I should do?

It is really hard to tell. Soft tops are getting built much quicker until the issues with the hard top are resolved. Q1 2022 sounds possible, but if Ford can crank up the hard top rate, I suspect outstanding soft tops will get pushed way out.
