Looking at all of the different trims/models, I noticed that OB is the only option that come stock with 18” wheels on the 28” tires while most of the others come with 17”s. Does having 18” compared to the 17” change anything or make a difference in any way? Or is it literally just a bigger wheel on the same size tire?
The Outer Banks has 32" tires on an 18" rim.
IMO a smaller rim diameter is better for ride and off-road but the 1" difference in the rims is miniscule. That being said I'll probably switch to 17" rims down the road.

285’s are 33”, 315’s are 35”
285/75/R18 are actually 34.8" high because of the 75 aspect ratio. I'm looking to use the existing OB rims which are 18 X 7.5. From what I can see the 315s require at least a 8.5 wide rim. So to rephrase my question, can the wider tire 285/75/R18 at 11.2" fit with the stock rim backspacing ? Stock tire width is 10" . This all assumes a stand alone 2' lift. Thanks

Think I'm decided -

OBX Antimatter Blue, white hardtop, white/silver grille insert, brown/ebony interior

2.7L, high package + B&O standalone, and whatever 33" tire upgrade is offered by Ford within reason.

Basically all I want is the outer banks with the high and the Lux package, leather & the V6. hoping to b under 50k. That's basically it since it has automatic the wife can drive it I don't need the hardtop and I don't need the Sasquatch package. But from the two packages all I really want is the 12in screen and the B&O system so if I can get those by themselves then I'm money that's all I really need...

You may not need a lift to accomodate tire in wheel well-no rubbing front and back of tire could be issue especially with front wheels in turning? You would just have to be cautious off road for limited up travel ? Wheel spacers could be used for backspacing issues to prevent tire rubbing on body parts. But I like your idea as I am not liking the 255 18's much myself. Every vehicle is different but I took my jeep from 16" 255 to 18x265 with no rubbing issues. When I put 285 x 17 x 70 on Jeep I did a very slight leveling kit (teraflex 2" front 3/4" rear) all good. Be forewarned, however, that any lift changes caster and handling. Don't know about this bronco with elecsteering but I did notice more wander on Jeep with hydraulic steering. It's fine, but not as precise if it ever was lol). I guess I am going to have to start looking at this. I was just gonna wear out the 255's then go to a 17" and maybe 285 or 305.

Is Katzkins good quality? I have heard the name before but never really looked into it.
Had Katzkins in my wife's Jeep Renegade for 5 years. Looked as great when we traded it in as the day they were put in - and that's with 4 kids in and out of it. Would highly recommend them.

I think enough have chimed in that I will probably look into Katzkins eventually which should free up some funds for extra options

We actually got ours as part of the original Jeep purchase. Many car dealers partner with Katzkin to have leather installed. This meant we were able to roll it in as part of our loan instead of an out of pocket expense. Definitely was a huge benefit for us.

Here is my projected breakdown of cost and options for me.

Trim: Outer Banks $39,000
Color: Blue
2 Door

Upgrades / Cost: Total Upgrade Budget $10,000

  1. High PAC. $ 3,000
  2. Leather Seats $2,000
  3. Black Modular Roof Under $1,500
  4. 2.7 L Under $2,000
Note: Hopefully money left over for Lux Pac.
Total Price: $46,000-49,000
This is what I was thinking too, plus the B&O Stereo.
