Outer Banks Bronco Thread

I went with the 4 door OBX, but I may switch to the wildtrak when I place my order. I am going to want the 2.7, hardtop and Sasquatch, which might just put me at the wild track price anyway.....Only other option I want is the high package (12" screen). TBD once package/accessory pricing comes out.

I was hoping I wouldnt have to have the sasquatch package, but that pic/video yesterday with the 3 broncos in the parking lot really sold me on the squatch package; the 35's really give it a nice stance/presence that the (what looked like stock OBX) 18" wheels/tires don't have.

LOL. After replying to your other post and did some digging around the Wildtrak and may switch over too. I dont want the squatch package, but after seeing the photos today, the stance totally transforms the car. And the cloth seats are nicer....and hard top is standard. Maybe if i go Wildtrack and stick with cloth seats (unfortunately they are manual if you dont get leather), I could be within a within a few K of the OBX build (with leather and hardtop). Plug i get the v6 and squatch. Both options would have high package.

I am a bit concerned over highway MPGs for a 2.3L with 32s vs a 2.7 with 35s...havent seen MPGs yet, but that could be the difference of say 26 MPG vs 18.

Also, for the few K difference, i would certainly feel like i was getting a lot more content with the wildtrak. And i were to purchase the OBX, and decided i wanted the stance later on, i would end up spending that money anyway on tires, lift, etc, but still have a 2.3L

...decisions, decisions. Just based on my subconscious thinking, the Wildtrak (to me), looks like a $70k pimped out Raptor esq truck that i am getting for $55k (granted, maybe I'm foregoing some interior content). The OBX feels a bit like a nickle and dimed car where i paid an upcharge to get a lot of basic luxuries. A $40k car, that i really paid over $50k.

this is what I'm thinking too, don't want to get stuck with the 2.3L..... as I drive around in my trailhawk with the 3.6L because "who goes fast in a jeep" and want the hemi every time I think about it....LOL

This is basically where my thinking was - started off looking at OBX because of the tech/features in the cabin, but realize I'll be adding things anyway that get you to the starting point of Wildtrak and wound up reserving a Wildtrak. I agree the Sasquatch look makes the car too. But I also realize price will play a factor.

What's the benefit of going with the Wildtrak over just sticking with OBX and adding on the Sasquatch and 2.7?

If I wind up getting a Bronco, it'll be a 4 door, hardtop, 2.7l, the best one you can get, w/o going to tires larger than 32", I think that's the OB? I don't need tires any larger than the 255/70-18's, could change to better AT tires, but no larger than stock, if it comes with street tires.

From what I can tell, the Wildtrak will have an extra GOAT mode (baja), hood graphics and standard aux switches. Other than that and the OBX will have tubular side steps, they should be mechanically identical. So it all comes down to accessory/option package pricing.

And how the interior themes/colors/options play out...

The Wildtrak comes standard with the 2.7, modular hard top, Sasquatch package, and the Advanced 4X4. All these are optional on the OBX.

My point was Wildtrak comes with those standard.

Essentially base Wildtrak = OBX + hardtop (gray plastic) + 2.7 + auto + sasquatch.

The biggest difference for Wildtrak is it gets a heavy duty steel bash plate and Baja mode and painted hardtop. Otherwise, I agree, on paper with the info we have right now, they do pretty much seem the same once you option up the OBX to match the Wildtrak's standard features. I don't know what the price of OBX + options will be compared to Wildtrak, though.

I'd imagine the interiors will also be slightly different as well. The bottom line is, we just don't know enough right now.

I'm guessing 99% of you discussing the mechanical features and merits of the Wildtrak vs Outer Banks, the Sasquatch option etc. don't give a flying hoot about the body colored parts. To me however, I like to have something unique, and the factory painted parts are a big plus to that end (in my book). I'm still planning to scratch up the aforementioned paint with some light desert trail riding, and I'm still getting the Sasquatch and High packages (two-door Bronco). But to me, the real draw of this package is the cool monochrome look that no other trim will have without custom body/paint-work.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm trying to find out if the Sasquatch extended fenders remain a painted item when you get the OBX trim.

Yeah, that's a good point as well - Wildtrak mirrors are apparently painted shadow black too. Not that they're accurate, but Ford's images on their site do show body color door handles on Wildtrak. I want body color handles as well - I hate a black handle on a colored vehicle. I originally thought I wanted colored flares, but the more I look at it, the more I like the black flares, as it helps break up the color a tad - especially on brighter colors - so it's not overwhelming.

I'd imagine Sasquatch flares are the same across the lineup, as they're slightly wider.

Another note is that the OBX does include an auto (but for a 2.3L)

$42.5k 4 dr OBX
+$2.5k? 2.7L
+$3.5k? Sasquatch
+$2k hard top
=$50.5k Wildtrak base...or possible more, as i wouldnt be surprised to see the 2.7L being $3k, and the sasquatch being $4k or more as individual add-ons to the OBX

So really boils down to the pricing.

Even if adding the sasquatch package to the OBX creates a "delete" in painted fenders, the trade-off is a gloss painted top in the Wildtrak.

....Love the look of the sasquatch/wildtrak, but may have regrets with 5'-1" wife, getting kids out of baby seat, etc. The sasquatch package simply may not work for us. Then there is the MPG. This is a family truckster. Which probably makes it too difficult to commit to the wildtrak sight unseen unless the wife could test out in person. But if it were my personal weekend cruiser, i do see more value in the Wildtrak, and definitely appreciate the looks.

LOL I'm trying to go for 'overwhelming! The less it looks like a Wrangler the better! I didn't end up getting a C8 this year, but when I was spec'ing out the new Corvette, all my builds were full monochromatic with all available parts body colored painted... I didn't like the broken up look of the black pieces here and there (in GM speak those parts were called Carbon Flash, whereas Ford uses Carbonized Grey I think).

I've got a YouTuber who is putting this on list of questions for Ford, and when I get the answers about the paint delete on the Sasquatch/OBX fender thing I will let everyone know. But I fear your theory about it being a universal unpainted add-on will be correct.

Good point about the painted top on the Wildtrak too... I forgot to mention that I'd likely get the 2-door hardtop body color painted as well if I stick with the OBX trim.

Is Katzkins good quality? I have heard the name before but never really looked into it.

I had it in an F-150, and I was quite impressed with the quality.
