These aren't examples of bad driving or bad hunters, but example of irresponsible or lazy people.

Yes, you're right about examples of Tesla drivers watching movies or sleep while the autonomous driving tech kills them (karma is a real bitch).

What I'm saying is, a person who is irresponsible or lazy just are exactly that. The presence or absence of some sort of tech, or nannies won't change a person's core behavior.

However, with the tech, the goal is to protect people like you and I and our innocent families from their stupidity. Everyone makes mistakes, but some of the stuff I see here on the highway or sometimes streets is just amazing.

Douche bag hunters are an entirely different story. There are lows in Alabama and most states about bating fields and other such cheating. I don't even like tree stands, the fun for me is in tracking an animal down, honing those skills, then getting a good shot. These skills could come in handy one day. Only time I've used a stand was feral hogs on my own land over in Bama. Don't want to be on the ground with those even when using a 30-.
Why can't I, a person who takes pride in my driving skill, get a high/lux package without nannies enforcing it's programming on my abilities?

Again, I am not saying the nannies are bad, I am saying they are wasted on me and I would rather not pay for them only to turn them off. Will they stop me from getting the options I want, no but I don't have to like it, which is the whole point of this thread.

I have a feeling that most of those who like this stuff are the same ones who are saying that they will never take the tops off or their vehicle will rarely see the dirt, not that there is anything wrong with that..:)

That’s just the way cars are built nowadays, I don’t like having to switch some things off every time I start the car, but I can see the wants for some of those things.

If you really don’t want them, $60,000 buys you a pretty nice classic without all the “nanny” stuff.

I'm sure they can be found in the coding when custom tuning and turned off

All of those nannies can be turned off by going into settings on the SYNC system. I do like the forward sensing system. Not for me, but for that idiot that's not paying attention, and could pull directly in front of me. I consider my reflexes as being fast, but the forward sensing is damn fast. But, the way Ford has that stuff packaged, and with their pricing structure I won't be getting it on the Bronco. And I will miss the adaptive cruise control. That thing is great on the long highways.

And speaking of nanny’s , tired of hearing about turn signals. If their use is necessary- letting someone know you are making a turn so they can go, letting somebody close behind you know you are turning.. etc- I’ll use them. If I have passed you on the freeway and I am a hundred yards in front of you, you know I’m coming over....

I haven’t seen any turn off/on switches in any of the interior photos I’ve seen, which leads me to believe they will be part of the touch screen setup. If this is true, it means it won’t be a one step switch to shut off..... still not a deal breaker.

...all I want is adaptive cruise for when I drive across the state. I very much enjoy spirited on-road driving, but after the 3rd or 4th hour on the highway I come to appreciate not having to babysit my cruise control because some wacky driver in front of me isn't maintaining their speed. If that were a standalone option to purchase I'd be on it!

I don't like any of the other 'nanny' features, though. At least on my Subi, the lane keeping assist is useless for my driving style 99% of the time (I like to hug the lines in corners, and when I do that it says NO and tries to kill me by steering away from the apex). It can be nice to have the bowling bumpers on when cruising the aforementioned freeway, though. I wasn't a big fan of the emergency breaking features either, although they did save me from a deer once. Also, on my Subi I can turn a lot of that stuff off and it stays off. I'm not sure how Ford's flavor of those features compares, but I'd hope they'd offer the ability to turn things off w/o having to do it every time you start the car!

Think it’s fast becoming regulatory, think modern seat belts. In 10 years the kinks will be ironed out most likely.

I do hear you, but think about this. All men think and say they can drive and drive well. Usually this is bullshit. I’ve done track days where guys in a brand new Porsche swear they know what they’re doing, don’t listen, then send that $180K sports car into the gravel needing a tow or in a few instances, the wall, which is hilarious to me when the guy has been a jerk.

Thus the nannies. Then there are the folks on their phones, which most of us are guilty of at some level.

Then on the trail, you’ve got assholes like me spilling my beer and holding up the line.

We are going to crowdfund you every driver assistance option in the book. I’m emailing mike Levine to make sure you can’t turn them off either.
Haha in LA on the 405 if you use your blinker you aren’t getting over. I use it on streets but on the freeway I hardly use them. You just gotta get in when you can.

"I don't need driving nannies"

and

"I change lanes without signaling"

Are both mutually exclusive statements :ROFLMAO: Pick one
Where are you guys driving that are critiquing me? In SoCal on the freeway I don’t see many using signals. We kind of just ebb and flow. You get used to watching people’s intentions.

When you are crossing 6 lanes of heavy traffic you gotta fight for your spot. Signals aren’t always the best solution for that. A signal might be what gets you blocked out of changing lanes.

Most times with such heavy traffic I am more focused on what the people in the next lane are doing, is there a motorcycle splitting the lane, is this guy gonna try to box me out when he notices that I want to change lanes and then I focus on my mirrors and make my change.

I had a car stop very suddenly in front of me and the car stopped itself before I even noticed. So I was glad I had it ever since. Also saves a lot on insurance.

One drawback. I feel very tempted sometimes to have 5 drinks instead of one knowing my car can do the heavy lifting getting me home hahahahah

Do you know if they can be turned off for good until you turn them back on? I don’t want to have to do it every time I get in.

Ok so here is my complaint thread since everyone else has one :p.

So the Mid, High and Lux packages all come with a few cool things but they are all jam packed with nannies. Things like evasive driving assist, lane keep assist, forward sensing(whatever that is), 360 Co-pilot etc...

I don’t know what most of those things are but I’m pretty sure I don’t want them. I have driven a Cadillac with a lot of these things and I have found that it is more likely to make me crash when the steering wheel is yanked away from me because I didn’t use my blinker to change lanes.

Does anyone know what these are? Do you know if they can be disabled permanently? I don’t want to have to turn them off everytime I start the car.

Also does anyone know why Sync 4 with enhanced voice recognition is on the mid package? Isn’t sync just the operating system on the screens? What would be on the screen without it? And what is Voice activated touch screen navigation on Lux?

All I want is the 360 camera, power plug/USB and the speakers.
Ford's website explains what this stuff does and how to use it. There are also lots of YouTube videos. For me, I'm glad to see this stuff included. I'm old, but fully embrace all of the latest tech.
