While waiting for a viable step solution that allows me to keep my factory rock rails, I came up with this. It started with a foldable step for my vertically challenged spouse. Not wanting to keep setting the step and waiting for her to get in, I found a 60" bungee with carabiners to attach to the step and grab handle. This way she gets in herself, pulls the step inside and voila. Simple but effective for now. Both the step and bungee pack from Amazon

What about getting out? Will the step lower down OK?

I have one of those steps, don't know if my wife would use it. :ROFLMAO:

She holds the grab handle and slides out. It could work that way if the caribiner is installed in a different spot

I might try it. Have to explore options before spending 2 grand on the Rock Slide Engineering steps (that there is some evidence they have some reliability issues). My wife getting in and out is my biggest single issue when considering model and aftermarket options.

I like your out of the box thinking. After a test drive with my wife it is clear that we will need a solution as well. Your solution may work short term but my long term plan is the rockslide step that folds down when the door is opened. Pricey but happy wife, happy life!

Thanks. I added the parts to an Amazon list. I'll have a solution if the wife starts to complain about the height.
