A tune (Ford ProCal, JB4, Panda, etc.) in conjunction w/ some other bolt-ons (Upgarded CAI, charge pipes, intercooler, cat-back exhaust, etc.) will get her some. A re-gear won't gain any more power but lower gears would make it feel more responsive.

We have '21 OBX with 18K on the clock.

I gave it to my wife last night also, and she said she would like more power too. I wonder what my options are.

Obviously…

I was seriously considering trading this OBX for a Raptor, but I changed my mind. I'm afraid it will make me a nice person instantly, and I'll start waving at people. I don't want to be nice. There are plenty of nice people out there, they don't want me in their ranks.

“Power” to a spouse usually means pedal response and “pep” like they are driving a Macan or X3. They don’t mean rear wheel horsepower and tons of boost.

First show her how to set it to Sport (and 2H if she doesn’t like the feel of 4A) and drive a few days. The FENG / ESE alone may be a hit!

For more, just plug in a Pedal Commander or similar product and call it a day, it’s plenty of throttle power on Sport+ for a spouse running around town. No need for 1000s of $$$ bolt-ons and maintenance traps if it’s not being purpose-driven off road.

The most beyond that I’d do is a JB4 or similar piggyback tuner that has a throttle boost option built in - but she’s got to pump the right octane gas in for whatever Map the tuner is set for.

If the complaint is the “ wimpy sound”, that’s maybe a Magnaflow axle back or similar, what people talk about around here anyway.

Agree with this entirely.

~IF~ and only if you have an auto trans (the second poster with the OBX, maybe) - then the Ford Performance for the transmission retune. Other than that, go with JB4, Panda, or some other aftermarket - at the expense of requiring premium or fuel blending. And honestly, I would do this before throwing hardware upgrades at it, otherwise you won't really get as much as you otherwise would out of them. There isn't much you can do with the 2.3 hardware-wise, but a lil. But - software tunes alone are 10%+ in power/torque gains and make a noticeable difference without changing any hardware at all - the 2.3 is especially receptive to tuning for whatever reason.

But yeah, Sport mode probably will do what you are after without costing anything.

The key is to walk up the ladder slowly; different drivers -spouses included - “feel” different things behind the wheel. You could put all the turbo and aspirating mods on, wave dyno gain “data” around, and they say, well it doesn‘t “feel” any different to me. Spin to Sport mode first, and from there go to stick to plug & play stuff or Procal (on auto).

Doesn't the Bronco "tune" itself to the driver? Maybe she just needs to drive it for a while for the Bronco to adjust to her driving style.

Adaptive transmission will adjust the shift points a bit, this is true. But it’s not a huge change - usually this is people complaining that it shifts late or has clunky shifts

thanks but probably not the case here…
My wife’s driving style is wide open, rowin’ thru those 6 gears. You should see her driving my hot rod

If you don’t want to have to run premium fuel because of the ford tuner you could go with the Panda motor works tuner.

no reason to upgrade intake either stock one is plenty efficient even with after a full exhaust upgrade and tuner.

sport mode will tighten throttle response if she’s not already using that as others have suggested
