AMB was not a charged color. Ruby Red (whatever) was. I wonder if the Metallic colors have the extra charge and the non-metallics don't.

That would mean Green would be no charge and Hot Pepper Red Metallic would.
AMB was not an up charge but it was a metallic I don’t know how they decided what colors will cost more. Surely if they discontinued your color there won’t be a charge.🤷🏻‍♂️

Almost all of the upcharged paint colors are a tri-coat color, ...... USUALLY.

Solids and metallics have:
a Base coat(color).
Clear coat (protective).
(2 seperate layers there)

A tri-coat will have:
Base coat
mid coat
clear coat
(3 layers)

Basically, you're paying for the extra material and extra step in the process.

Price Protection Extension thru 2023 model year - We'll continue to offer price protection to all Bronco order and reservation holders (as of March 19, 2021) to ensure you will not see an increase in MSRP if you receive an equivalent 2023 model year Bronco.

I think it would be a nightmare for Ford to manage all of these point in time orders and reservations.

So many possible use cases for them to account for. Consider:

- Reservation holders don't have full builds just trims and 2dr\4dr
- Order holders may have changed their order multiple times before 3\19 to facilitate early deliveries. They might want to defer back to their original order without the '21 constraints.
- Dealers may have just submitted 99 priority orders to meet the 3\19 deadline and not worry about the detailed build that a customer was requesting until '22 order banks open.

IMO, the much cleaner, easier to manage way would be for Ford to freeze all 2021 MSPR prices and let pre 3\19 order and reservation holders be priced from that pricing sheet regardless of them changing options, trims or # of doors. For items that were not available in 2021, the only price available would be the new '22 or '23 price.
Maybe but- Ford is not in business to make vehicles, they are in business to make money. I am sure they will have to honor all orders that were MADE THRU RESERVATION HOLDERS as of March 19, 2021. That's what it says. This is a "AND" statement (res holder and order) not an "OR".

That's really all they have to do because that's really all they said...

It's their game.
They write the rule book.
You can bet there is an out for them at every turn.
Just read the not so small print on the reservation page .... there is no contract, promise or obligation.

Just wait until it is painfully obvious that they cannot complete all the FE's in 2021 .... as stated.
This place will go nuclear.

Just guessing it is a base/clear. Doesn't look too special to me.

Tinted clear coat, pearl, tri-coat , Mica ... those are the usual buzz words that cost more.

As usual with Ford, who knows??? I ordered a Wildtrak with the modular bumper. But the capable bumper will be standard on the WT in 22 so I might keep that when I reorder. It's all steel and has fog lights. Also wondering if the price on the 22 WT drops if you opt for the soft top? Who knows???

I misspent a lot of my youth at a body shop, LOL.
Occasional hobbiest at best otherwise.

My thoughts on the MIC are rather harsh.
Ford tried to reinvent the wheel and failed miserably.
I have a 2dr and will be nervous about the top for a long time.
I think of it this way.... Chevy, Ford and about 6 trillion Jeeps have been using composite tops for decades.
Many, if not most of those tops are still serviceable to this day, after DECADES of enduring the elements.
DECADES.

Fords new top didn't last three WEEKS!

Think about that for a moment DECADES vs WEEKS!

Do you really believe they can tweak the process a little bit and make the top go from having a life span of weeks to decades?
Think about all the bumps, vibrations and shaking this thing will be subjected to. Those seams won't open up and expose the cardboard core?

Same. Wondering if the fixes will be more of the band-aid variety, or robust and stand the test of time. In particular will the new rolled edges be strong and remain fully sealed over the long term.

Also besides the edges and outer skin, I wonder if Ford will address any of the interior surface issues seen in some photos.
