After hearing loud clanking noises whenever quickly accelerating or stopping, I brought my 2022 Badlands SAS into the dealer. I thought it could have been armor rubbing, but was told that the rear differential needed to be replaced. Luckily under warranty. I have been waiting ever since. Apparently, they put the highest priority on getting the part, but due to a backorder there is no ETA. This is beyond frustrating.

This is basically horrifying news for me to hear. Dropped mine off to the dealershIp Monday October 21st with LOUD differential whining. They have had it over a week already and as of right now haven't even given me an official diagnosis. Assuming it needs diff parts, this is going to take forever 😢. There's just a handful of rear diff issue type threads I've found, mostly over a year old. They had similar backordered parts problems, I had hoped supply had caught up. Ugh.

That's too bad. In my searching I read many of those same previous posts. Hopefully this gets resolved soon, but it doesn't sound like it will.

Got an update from the dealer today. They are going to replace an axle bearing and seal then retest. Parts are 3 days ETA. Hopefully thats the end of it. My concern now is this: that rear end has had what I would call "gear whine" for some time now. It's hard to say how long, this is one of those noises that started off slow and got noticeable and bothersome only after a good while. So, even if the only "failed" part is the axle bearing, if that ring and pinion have been running out of adjustment for 5000 miles, would that wear them in a way that they'd be out of spec at this point? Will update as this goes on.

Looks like @Ford Motor Company was going to weigh in and then deleted. I am still out of luck and no ETA. 52 days and counting.

Hopefully, that fixes the issue. I would share your same concerns.

I had a problem with my right rear axle leaking last year. They replaced 2 axles still had the same problem. They ended up replacing the whole rear axle assembly. It did take a while from the initial appointment until the final fix. Luckily I had my motorbike as backup. Hopefully they find a fix for yours.

If it was an outer bearing, which it sounds like if it's being replaced in conjunction with the seal, then no, the gears will be fine.

Day 79 with no truck and no ETA on the part. I received an email for ford confirming that they have no ETA. This is getting ridiculous. This isn't right. On top of the fact that I waited over a year to get the truck in the first place, after sitting on ice mountain for months waiting for chips. Once received the thing broke within months. I couldn't shift it out of park. Had to get it towed to the dealership and get a part replaced. I have never had such a negative experience with a vehicle I have owned.

How many miles do you have on it now? I changed my rear diff fluid at 11,000 miles and was shocked at how dirty it was. I've seen others complain about the minimal volume of fluid Ford used as well.

Time to lemon law it and replace it with one that’s not broke. If you have one without problems, they are awesome.
