Mine was totaled from frame damage. If the airbags deployed and the frame is damaged it'll be totaled.

I’ve been out of work since it happened due to neck and back pain, hopefully only temporary, have a follow up appointment with the doc next week.

I really hope it can be fixed and isn’t totaled out. Waited forever for this car and feel really attached to it.

Don't settle with their insurance too quickly. I might be more lenient for some wrecks, but slamming into someone while stopped turning because they are texting is just not excusable.

Do your homework on repair shops, not all USAA gold (or whatever they call their premium shops) are created equal!

Also get good doctors, your health is most important.

Lastly, like someone else suggested get yourself a great attorney.

Seven years ago I was hit from behind in an explorer by an f150 at highway speeds when I stopped for construction and the other person did not. The premium USAA shop, also a dealer, did a horrific job and the car was never the same.

Not trying to scare you but do your homework.

Repair shop quoting about 20k to repair. ETA is about a month and a half. I’ve read nightmare stories on here about wait times in repair shops. Is it still really bad?

Only had my car since last September, super bummed.

other guys car, think he was texting. Hit us full speed, while we were waiting to turn at the light.

Ugh uninsured, that should be a criminal offense punishable with mandatory jail of 1 year for every $10k in medical or property damage!

Unfortunately I've had several claims with USAA. All went well and I was always allowed to pick my body shop. USAA has preferred shops, but I was never required to use them.

You know there's still a couple of states that don't require insurance. Crazy.
Even in California the liability minimums are so low you might as well not have it.

Yeah I live in a fairly rural area and had limited options and thought that because the preferred shop was a dealer shop it would be fine... Didn't work for me.
