I’m looking for a good rooftop tent to fit on my 2 door badlands. I’m torn between buying something now, waiting for news on the superlite v2, or just buying a ground tent for the spring/summer.

I had a superlite lined up that I was supposed to go and pick up this week. I put a deposit down and everything. Guy randomly texts me today and says the sale is off he’s giving it to his brother. Very unfortunate but what can you do.

I have the trailrax trmr rack. Not sure what weight/length limitations the 2 door Bronco has.

Edit: preferably something that isn’t going to break the bank.

Buy a Gazelle tent until the Superlite V2 comes out! That is our recommendation. The light weight up top is great and allows you to feel way less top heavy than other tents.

Great suggestion. I've never heard of these tents before. Will definitely do some research. So far it looks like this will get me through this summer, at least until we get some more news about the Superlite V2.

I found a small soft top tent which allows me to remove the front 2 panels and acts as an awning over the rear for cooking, etc.

Cool setup.

I ended up getting a Gazelle T4 Overlander Edition. REI had a sale and I got one for %20 off. Will put some money aside until the GFC Superlite V2 eventually comes out.

Yes they are, but most of these RTT's are mostly the same, most likely manufactured in the same factory.
I purchased mine second hand (cheap) as it had the smallest footprint (42x48") and is just under 100lbs, I don't really care if the company is in business or not.

I have the rugged but you could also go with the more economical PMT

I also have a 2 DR Badlands. Dynamic weight limit is 110lbs, and Static Limit is 700. After looking at the pro's and con's of a light weight tent I went with the Freespirit Aspen Lite. I was really interested in the Bad Ass Tent, and found an open box version on FB Marketplace. The day after I bought the Aspen, he finally answers that it is still available...MEH. From what I've seen the Aspen Lite is a much better thought out tent than the Bad Ass or the Gofast at about the same price point.
It ship's in May.
