That isn't rust. If it were rust you would need to have paint chips down to bare metal first. Plus aluminum panels don't rust with dark spots like steel does. Aluminum corrosion is a silvery powder.

Technically it is rust. Not from the vehicle but from embedded contaminants.

Hello I have a 23’ 4dr and noticed rust spots all over the vehicle. Hood, doors, behind fender flares, tailgate, above rear tail lights etc.

Anyone else have an issue like this? I ran it through a car wash and they’re still very prominent.

I had this on a 2012 Subaru, it was an issue with prep, to resolve it they were going to remove all paint, prep and repaint the vehicle. Subaru decided to just buy it back as it was cost prohibitive.

The paint shop where have I gotten little rock chip touch ups and also the local Ford dealership recommended them basically said that it’s rail rust from being transported by rail car and just contaminants… and also said dealerships used to do a really good job detailing and getting everything perfect but now they do a half ass job. Probably just as equal to the original factory paint now a days versus 20-30 years ago or older. Something tells me no one will be getting a paid and written off Bronco for that. šŸ« šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜‚ It’s a pain in the butt and annoying to remove… but at least it’s fixable. This happened yesterday on the freeway with no cars around and sounded like a gun shot, so that was fun. Getting filled today and is gonna still look REAL attractice with my tinted windshield. šŸ¤˜šŸ»šŸ˜‚šŸ«

Instead of ā€œAccessory Ready ā¬†ā€ it should say ā€œRock Chip Ready ā¬‡ā€

Awaiting my first…got a massive one when I had an Alfa Romeo.

I was dreading a third party glass, but thankfully, nobody makes it for the Alfas, so I got a windshield that was factory correct.

šŸ˜‚šŸ’€šŸ˜‚šŸ’€. All future models should be replaced around the entire vehicle with that because I haven’t even looked but it’s gotta be everywhere 50 times in hopes of accessory purchase šŸ˜‚. Especially my beautiful hood and painted fenders… And now the second one (a damn double doozy it looks like šŸ˜‚) on my windshield which is such an eyesore even repaired with tint but obviously don’t want it without. I don’t even know what it was and seriously had no vehicles around but could imagine what it would have done if it hit any of the aluminum. Built Ford Tough. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ«  I love my Bronco but anything cosmetic that could be random and go wrong… Has. šŸ˜‚šŸ’€

My Bronco is getting PPF today on the grille, partial hood, and doors.

I have windshield protection as part of one of those obnoxious vehicle protection plans because I don’t want to hit my own insurance for a while (waiting for some claims to fall off).

šŸ‘€ Send pics! I always wonder how the PPF will look and then worry about the upkeep of it. But at this rate I’ve had so many hum dingers in 8 months… šŸ˜‚šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ«£

Repair done! It turned out a lot better than I expected especially for $40 and tint on the inside. I was thinking it would be much worse and unattractive. šŸ˜‚

Either they don’t know what rail dust is or that was something entirely different.

This is easily resolvable by a professional detailer, as others have said.

Insurance would not pay to repair that - they would demand a replacement windshield.

Yeah and then send my premium through the roof. Sounds like $40 was a better bet even though it’s annoying it even happened, lol. I was lucky enough to get them to take off 2 of the 3 outrageous dealership ā€œwarrantiesā€. When I was wondering if I should have kept or this or that and all the fine print for even one… I’m sure you know there are all these stipulations that are ridiculous for dent coverage like it can’t be bigger than some small size, can’t have messed up the paint, etc. It was like $500 and only lasts for 2 years so just pray it never happened or save the money and put that towards it if it did. Or whatever exterior/interior ā€œprotectionā€ they ā€œpre-applyā€ (That’s the one I had to pay for from Autonation for $600)… You would not believe the like 500 bullet powerpoint of what is not covered or cancels the coverage. They always want to get their money somewhere, lol. But I wasn’t offered any type of windshield protection and doing the math of a brand new windshield… And like $400 tint job after… I guess I made the better decision. Now if it split the whole thing…. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ« šŸ˜‚ All for it to reoccur with horrible Corpus Christi roads. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ’€

Glass claims typically don’t seem to impact rates at all.

Heck, my rates didn’t change after having a car totaled.
