Ok, so I was able to order roof rails for my SAS Bronco that "couldn't" come with them from the factory, from my dealer. But they had a strange question... They asked which ones, the Off Road Rails or the Standard Rails.

I didn't realize there would be a difference, and still don't know what the difference is.

It sounds like they are talking about the crossbars not the rails. There is only one set of rails but in the accessory catalog I saw multiple crossbars.

Do you have a part number for the rails? How much did they (over) charge for them?

I know I've seen the crossbars, but at least on the accessory list I have, I only find the Yakima and Thule ones

Are we sure they’re not looking at rock rails instead of the roof rails.
Positive. I just spoke with him and he said that they come as a set, rails and cross members together, but he's going to double check.

I've not been able to locate the part number for the rails but he's going to get back to me on the part number that he ordered. Then... I will have to measure the height of my garage doors. :)

My dealer says I cannot order any Bronco accessories yet. Is he incorrect?

I would say yes as we had someone post a picture of the folding tailgate accessory a few days ago.

I sent a whole list into mine and even though some things like tube doors won't be available until later, I was able to confirm a bunch of things are on their way. There's even a thread here with pictures of the rear flip down table.

I don't think this is an accessory though, I think the rails are simply... "Parts".

I've debated ordering the roof rails myself. Because the weight limit is so small I'm thinking about going with some sort of backbone system like Jeep has (of course once someone develops it).

In which case the roof rails would be worthless anyway.

Too bad after markets don't tend to enhance factory parts but instead completely replace them. But I guess that's not where the money's at

There's two things that he could've ordered. Neither are what you want.

1. Some dealerships have "off-road" and "Standard" Yakima cross bars listed. Presumably the "off-road" ones are the HD crossbars.

2. Or it could be the OEM cross bars for the Bronco sport. There's a version for the Badlands and FE ("off-road"), and another version for the other trims (standard).

As far as I can tell, the Bronco roof rails, the ones that a lot of us want, are not in any system yet. Only the additional crossbar for the factory rails is available so far.
