Haven't been driving my Bronco much and been getting this message after shutdown. Went for a nice long drive and it didn't happen ;)

As for battery life, forget the weather, I used to get 5-7 years out of a battery but ever since AGM came out I'm lucky to get more than 3 years. My '19 Wrangler and '20 Pacifica each got almost exactly 3.5 years as daily drivers. My '06 HD Road King got 5 years out of the first battery in an unattached garage in FL, but my '17 Street Glide is on its 3rd or 4th battery already!

Battery voltage is only one part of the equation, and even then it’s only valid to look at when the engine is off, otherwise the alternator will mask a problem

I do believe there is a timer - something like no activity in 7 days or something?

The BMS also records temperature and amps in and out: even if the voltage is fine if it sees too many amps out vs amps in for a given temperature range it will flag an issue. This is why the trickle charger, and making sure it’s hooked up so the BMS system can see the recharge, can sometimes help.

There is also a BMS reset procedure you are supposed to do when you do change the battery to reset the counters

So what should I do when I put my Bronco in storage for the winter?

Put a battery tender on it - make sure it's rated for AGM batteries. I've had good luck with the Noco ones and currently using a Genius10; others may have good recommendations too. Even a small 1A trickle charger can keep the battery healthy while in storage.

The Bronco will still go to deep sleep - but that's ok, it's supposed to do that.

Is it normal to get the "system off to save battery" message immediately after shutting off the engine? I used to get it after sitting for a week or so, but now it's every time I shut off the engine. I mean the split second I turn it off. Doesn't matter if I've driven an hour or 5 minutes. I had the battery checked and it registered 660 CCA so it's lost life, but not anywhere near dead....

I don’t drive everyday. As a result my F350 and Bronco sit for days. F350 has a timer on a NOCO Genius 10. Every night from midnight to 5AM it charges. After about 2 weeks it will alert me about about deep sleep even though the batteries show almost 13v. Went to Norway for 2 week cruise. Both F350 and Bronco had NOCO Genius 10s and alerted of deep sleep.
I have never gotten that message unless they sit for more than 2 weeks

There is a timer on deep sleep too regardless of voltage and it looks like you found it.

The Nocos do not need to be on a timer but it won’t hurt anything either

I love the NOCO’s I them on the tractor, UTV, mower haven’t replaced a battery yet and that equipment xan sit for months.
Even for those of you that drive everyday I recommend getting a NOCO and charging the Bronco periodically
