Air Leak between Throttle Body and Intake Valve

2.3L 7MT - 14k miles

It’s dark out now - but, I can hear it. Will dig deeper tomorrow. This is the first I’m seeing this issue. Search comes up empty.

Perhaps the fitting on the PCV or Intake side of the UPR Catch Can hoses came loose or cracked??? That’s the only thing I can think of at the moment.

Any techs out there with some info that can help me fix this? I’ll take it to the dealer on Monday if I have to…but, it would be nice if I could solve this myself and save me the headache of spending my day off at the dealership.

Any updates?

Also curious to know was your throttlebody spacer already installed BEFORE the warning light came on or have you not installed it yet? Btw how do you like the spacer if already installed?

Could your problem also be related to the panda tune when installing new spark plugs (if you have a panda tune...)?

Keep us posted

I’m not using the spacer - I was just using their instructions as a reference as to how to access the throttle body.

I’ll report back tomorrow when I can get under the hood.

So weird. Now the light is gone. I’m gonna go ahead and torque the 4 bolts and the clamp and see what happens.

Just pushed the throttle hard over some hills and around some corners to see if I would get the service light again. Nope.

I’ll pull the battery tomorrow and torque those bolts and see where it leads. Was planning on some trails and miles on Tuesday. Hope this doesn’t causes more issues…

Throttle body bolts were tight. Hose clamp felt a little loose. Cleared the codes and it stayed off. Hopefully it stays that way.

I would like to double check, so you have an aftermarket catch can and also a tune on the car?

So I just had this error come on in my Bronco, full stock other than a K&N filter.

I'll take a look at my own connections tomorrow when it's light out, but at least I'm not the only one to ever get it.

My code reader app said it was a permanent code so I didn't even bother trying to clear it yet.

Interesting. I wouldn’t clear it. I wish I hadn’t. But, it never came back. I just had my catalytic converter replaced yesterday. I don’t know if it’s related 1.5 years later.

I made sure the 4 bolts were torqued and the hose clamps as well and it never came back. I was convinced that perhaps one of the catch can fittings on the engine side weren’t fully seated. But, that would cause more issues at this point now that it’s been 18 months.

Let us know if you find anything out.

Well I'm no mechanic but I did find a cut in one of the hoses

I guess I'll just take it to the dealer and find out for sure.

Can you pull back that rubber sheath at all? Which line is that? Hard to tell from pic.

Ah. Yep. That’s the hose you remove to install the Ford Performance Oil/Air Separator. I doubt that’s tied to your code. Throttle body is on the driver side of the motor next to the battery.
