Yes, my concern is real. And yes, I have sold cars to private individuals.

As I have more to lose later in life, risk is my concern. You sell a car to someone who has an accident on the way home, maybe even with fatalities. With our legal system, he’s fully capable of claiming that the car you sold him had “faulty” brakes. Pretty hard to define. He gets a lawyer and sues you for over your policy limits $$$. 5 years later, your insurance company settles for a value within your policy limits…..

Yes, the US tort system is totally out of control.

EDIT: Don’t tell me this hasn’t happened.
EDIT: Did you check his insurance? Could you be responsible the party because he had no insurance or an unscrupulous insurer?
Helluva a way to live life man. I get being smart. Sounds like you’re paranoid.

Edit: And what exactly is stopping a dealer from coming after you?

Sorry, maybe not paranoid, but with a lot to lose….and not very trusting of some of the public. Ever wonder why the driver in front of you has to come to a complete stop to make a right turn? Fishing for a rearender?

How could a Dealer come after you in our legal system? They could obviously be shown as the vehicle condition experts.

If that’s your definition of paranoid, then I’m OK with that….

Yes, you’re paranoid if you think every idiot on road making a slow or stopped right turn is after you. Good luck.

I never said EVERYONE….Think about it next time it happens to you. Note the quality of the car and who’s driving it…

We’re boring everyone.

I suspect it has a lot more to do with laziness and ease of transaction. People willing to forego thousands to complete a transaction and get gratification immediately.
It's a lot more hassle to sell a $60k truck than a 15 year old Expedition.

I sold my Expedition private party. First dude who showed up with fifty $100 bills got it. And of course, since I bought it years ago, I had the title. Hardest part was in AZ I have to get the damn title notarized.

OP probably doesn't even HAVE his title since he just bought the thing 7 days ago, and it's taking California 2 months to mail out titles these days. I'm betting he financed it too. In which case, he actually has to either come up with the cash to clear the title, or do a 3-way transaction, while the buyer waits for the title to actually clear.

If I'm buying, forget that. Clean up your mess before you try to sell to me. After that, it's easy. Meet you at my bank, and we can do a wire transfer.

Hey Berkekey,
Definitely buy the new one so you can basically give the finger to the dealer. Then sell the new one via the website, Bring A Trailer, as this will keep you at arms length from the sale. You will make a small profit, enabling you to take a bit of the sting away from the outrageous 15K over the MSRP the bastards charged you.
This is pretty risky. He would have to pay around $4k in tax just to buy the Bronco and then BAT fee probably around $3k. He would be lucky to break even in the current market.

Just walk away. The dealer didn't "make" you buy it for 15k over, you chose to pay that and took that risk instead of waiting. What's done is done. I would not worry about buying the new one and all the financial risk if you are happy with the one you already have. It is quite common for dealers to sell cars on the lot with adm, its really only shady of them if they surprise you with it on an ordered vehicle after an agreed upon price. It seems like a lot of work & financial risk without really much gain. You might be able to make a lil money off the new one but you also might not. Is it worth even more potential loss?
Yes- this.

Hey DrewBronc21,
Yes he would incur additional fees, but at least he would be able to sell it without having to directly get involved with a private sale, something he did not want to do. Most Bronco's on BAT are getting close to 10K over the MSRP, depending on the model of course.

FOMO can be real but I will never pay ADM. I am on the cusp of losing my order due to this latest drama with FORD. I am #21 at Granger and my order will become dust this year. Just not doing it.

If you think you have the money to burn to pay an ADM, you honestly shouldn't be mad about it otherwise you either overextended yourself and/or fell prey to FOMO. I hope you enjoy the truck. You deserve after what the fuck FORD pulled with this release.

Crash the second one on the test drive to prevent the dealer from selling it with ADM.

Considering Ford's latest plays with MY2023/24, I'd take possession of the other one and sell it. Just haul it off the dealer's lot and keep it under a roof. It looks like there will be a major shortage, and I don't see demand letting up--except that some people are predicting a 2023 recession.
So you can sell it for love, or money, or both. Make somebody happy. I promise you: post it on Bronco6G at your cost, plus sales tax, plates, minimum insurance, and you'll get a buyer fast. Consider adding your own adm (maybe $10K?) to make up for what you paid for your current ride. Play with the numbers, check the auction sites for who's paying for what. You're in a very fortunate position.
Not sure about that. I 've got my '23 Badlands 2.7/Lux/Sas/MIC/Leather/Mod bumper posted to get my costs back out of it and haven't had high interest in it. Granted, WA state's 10.4% sales tax and stupid RTA fees (failing light rail project) doesn't help.
