Okay. So this has now happened on both the 2022 and 2024 wildtrak. We’re running 40” tires, which is way beyond the limit for adjustment using Forscan. No biggie. Set it to be 10% and easy peasy. Speedo indicates 55? We’re going 60. 70? That’s 77. Verified by Waze and phone gps. Just drive what the speed limit is and you’ll usually be under the threshold set by most revenue generators.

Here’s the peculiar bit and I don’t have any explanation for it-after a few thousand miles a random check is done and…the speedometer matches gps. Has anyone else had this happen or am I just experiencing a glitch in the matrix?

Picture unrelated.

You can actually adjust beyond the 37” limitation - it just breaks cruise control

I don’t know how far past it it will go, but I was able to get my 38s dead on, at the expense of cruise control functioning.

I eventually dialed it back to the max number (I have it in a post around here somewhere) to get cruise control back as it was only about 1.5 mph off at 70.

I’ve never heard of the Bronco adjusting itself though

I went above it just to see what would happen and it was not a happy bronco. Cruise control and no CEL > speedo matching.

But…now the speedo matches. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Weird. Our dash lit up. But it was also before we did the relearn. Either way I took it back to under the 2700 or 2800 whatever it is limit and then it was happy.

Still though-can’t explain the speedo now matching GPS. And it did it on both the 2022 and 2024. Thought it was anomaly with the 2022 but then the 2024 did it. Makes me want to turn off all the cellular services on the second 2024 when we do the LT upgrades and see what happens.

Update-

We compared the speedometers between the portal rig and stock rig. Portal rig was once again matching the indicated speed from Waze using CarPlay. Stock rig speedometer matched the indicated speed from waze using it’s carplay. And…portal rig was 10% under the stock rig. So I don’t know wtf is going on. Just told wifey to always go the speed limit or just under it and she stay below the personal revenue threshold for most extortion employees. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lucky you when I exceeded the number back in ‘22 on my ‘21 for 37’s tires(listened to an online source) it wiped the vin from my pcm. Every friggen light in the dash was on. Set it back to no avail. Had to have it reprogrammed at the dealer. Luckily I had a friend that was a tech so it didn’t effect warranty.

Did a little testing this evening. Took the big bronco out and plugged my phone in to carplay. (Waze on my phone was reading what the stock bronco read on the first test-10% faster than big bronco speedo and waze on her phone) Pull up waze through car play and-my phone is reading the same as the speedo. Wifey then opens waze on her phone, not connected to carplay. She’s 10% faster. Seems CarPlay wants to adjust based on the indicated speed from the speedo.

If anyone could do their own testing to confirm that would be great.

Maybe try a different app for speed testing than Waze? Something not going though CarPlay - there are dozens of them

you may be right that when CarPlay is used Waze picks up the speed from the car and not GPS

The important part was learning CarPlay was the factor. Using the same app not tied in to carplay while in the car and that app read a different speed. She did try googlemaps as well and had the same result.

From what I saw with my Jeeps, yes plugging in for CarPlay results in the speed on any gps app being received from the vehicle, so to test and adjust for new tires required using it standalone. I did not have wireless CarPlay in any of my jeeps, so I am not sure if that would result in accurate or inaccurate speeds.

To be fair, most GPS speedo apps are relatively inaccurate and inconsistent. Drove me crazy when I was doing mine.

I finally found one of those portable radars on a road near me and drove past it a ton of times. I can't verify its accuracy, but it was at least consistent so I went with that. I intentionally tuned the speedo roughly 4% high since I sometimes like to go a little fast lol

Waze definitely uses GPS, not vehicle data.
Because I’ve switched between 35’s and 37’s a handful of times without changing anything and there’s a large noticeable difference between what my speedometer shows and what Waze shows when I do.

It seems like it takes a minute before doing it. Will be off initially then later when actually using it for navigation-“wait…what?!? Whyyyyyyy do they match?”
