$150 a month?
For the whole thing. Looks like normal service is $120/month and $30 additional for mobile.

I'm already paying $100/month for fast internet cable. And it would be handy to have communications in emergencies outside of cell phone range.

Another way to look at it is a safety expense of ~$1,000 plus service. Some people prefer to have tools to get them out of trouble (winch/recovery boards/straps etc.) and some people would just like to call AAA. Yeah, not as cool as telling your buddies you got into and then out of trouble by yourself, but as Dirty Harry said "A man has got to know his limitations".

The new Starlink mobile service is $150/month.
https://www.starlink.com/roam
I would ignore that. That’s the pricing for their Roam plan on the full dish. Pricing in South America came out a few days ago and it’s $200 + $30/month. Elon said to expect half the price of the full powered dish. The pricing everyone is currently seeing ($600 dish/$30/month on top of home service) is for their internal North American beta. We don’t know what pricing will really be when this things drops in a few months.

I recently bought the starlink for a camping trip in Baja, it was really useful. Do you know if the standard dish works while driving? I know they make a really expensive kit ($2500) for that but I wasn't interested in spending that much. I also have a soft top, wonder if it will work through that.

if you have the Gen 3 type dish yes it will work in motion so long as you have a roam data plan not residential data plan.. They call it the standard fixed version. Thats what we are using

correct haven't worked out the 2 door version. Will do that next if you guys have interest in it.
I think the best option for the 2 doors is the mini long as the speed doesn't drop to much. What kind of of speeds are you getting with gen 3 compare to last gen? i heard about this then forgot about it want to see if it worth the price tag.

I am seeing speeds as high as a little over 300 mbps on the Gen 3 dish. it slows down a bit as you move it seems like. Anything over 75 mph it does down a little but still average over 150 mbps

" The Starlink Roam kit is now available coast to coast giving users internet access without needing a residential subscription. "
" For the adventure seeker on-the-go across North America, the Mobile Regional option gives users unlimited inland mobile data for $150 a month. If you'd prefer a set mobile data cap at 50GB, the monthly cost drops to $50 for inland access across the continent. "

$50 isn't bad.

We got the Min Dish in hand now and have the mount design refined. We have one getting cut on the laser now and will test this weekend or early next week. So far testing it works great and gets online faster than the gen 3 dish does, but the connection speed is slower across the board, especially when in motion then the Gen 3 dish.

I have for sure noticed that the closer I can keep the dish mounted to the hard top the better it works. The more gap above the dish it starts to cause connection slowdown. Still works but not as good.

Also we use our Mini-Dish standard roof mount to put into the Bronco mount so its a quick release and you could put the suction cups on the bottom of the basic mount and use it on the outside of another vehicle also, so you almost get a 2 for 1 mount kit with this one.

Do have anything in the works that will be compatible with roof racks?
several options that can be attached to roof racks on the website. just depends on how you want to mount it. Assuming you have cross rails of some type you can bolt to you could use the versa mount with no suction cups and let it settle down between the rails. or you could use a race version flat mount kit also. check out whats on the site now. www.highspeedmounts.com
