So I take it this is not one of those self contained and amped subs? Just a box with a speaker and It's up to you to power it?

Correct, you’ll need to connect an amplifier to it. We currently have a JL Audio VX700/5i powering it. It is mounted under the passenger front seat.

Ah.. duh... I don't know why but for some reason I thought it mounted to the seat itself but now I see it's basically on the floor underneath. And yeah I do see that there is a few inches of clearance coming from the back before it starts to hit the unlevel floor and all the junk.

Anyone have an idea on the specs? I found this one from SRQ Customs that has an 8” kicker but sounds like it isn’t a whole lot of base.

Also something to consider is the square 8 is going to have more surface area than a normal round 8. if all things are equal, then you will have more air moving with the same amount power. Its a very good upgrade and likely will cost much less than the JL with a 10 shallow mount, not sure of the series they are using, but they are pricey.

So, is this thing mounting in the same area as the factory sub or under the passenger seat? I'm confused.

Those are amplifiers, which you can mount in multiple locations depending upon size and application. The jl stealth box mounts in existing sub location area.

The Stealthbox is coming, don’t know when. It is a 10T1W2 View attachment 484561

There should be no reason I can't keep the factory amp for my speakers and just use a separate smaller subwoofer amp like a kicker 500.1 key for sub right? Hopefully it's just the subwoofer and box JL will sell and not some package. Under seat is a big no no for me. But I love this box. Really curious what they do to the plastic cover.

So it sounds like the stealth box will only be for a shallow mount 10"? Can you please confirm? If so, that's a huge bummer..

It’s definitely a 10TW1 in the stealth box, the guy at JL Audio confirmed it, said they were test fitting last month and final approval last month as of March 15th. Said they were waiting for the production molds to be finished before they could begin production. As for the size of the woofer, I have a 12tw3 that I planned on putting in but the diameter is just a bit too large to hide it without any modifications to the panel. From my experience with stealth boxes they are mostly hidden away and sound great.

I bought this while waiting for my Bronco from Ford . . . are you saying it's not gonna fit? Will the stock head unit have enough power or will the speaker cables be the limiting factor? I really don't want to have to send it back, the shipping charges were killer!

So basically we will see it released in Q3 or Q4 this year, lol. FWIW, I was told it was test fitting and final approval back in December 2022.

Yeah I was told they did that for the four door then and last month they had a two door in. Eric Cole is the guy I’ve been corresponding with at JL, he ended his last email with that it could be a bit still before they are released.
