I'm afraid of the Bronco tax but have been holding off making any other decisions until I see it.

Being the fact that it's behind a hidden panel, looks don't really matter as much So with the SRQ pricing.... Well we'll just see.

It will be expensive. The JL Audio stealth box for my 2nd Gen Dodge Ram was over $700.

I’ll guess that this is a 10”? If so I have an old StealthBox from a Ford Edge and I hopefully just buy the box and can take the JL Audio Sub out of that one and reinstall it. They are expensive but definitely well made.

Got me! :sneaky:

Clicked this thread assuming I'd see a date, not the same response someone last posted the first week of December and they've been saying since early November. No update I guess.

They said it's a 10" TW1 when I emailed them... more bass than stock but in a SUV I prefer at least a 12" with decently high power rating.

I spoke to the rep at EJS and he acted like he was sick of people asking him about it and said he can't comment on planned availability, not even a "by the end of the year" only a "it's coming". I told him he'd better get something out soon because people will only wait so long before buying something else like the Stinger or MTI tailgate subs.

Yeah that ship has sailed. Several alternative options out there now and guarantee to be a lot cheaper.

But are there any alternatives that will fit a 10" in the stock sub location? I haven't come across that other than JL's vaporware.

But if it exists elsewhere, I'd love to see it.

Okay yeah you got me there. If they're putting a 10-in then that would be new. I honestly haven't kept up with it that much once I started seeing $600+ price tags... And that didn't even include the amp or the wiring.

Can confirm that the JL Stealthbox (purchased from Creative Audio) is probably the #1 aftermarket solution when mounting behind the passenger side trunk panel.
This is mainly because it is hidden, takes up no additional space, is extremely POWERFUL and pairs nice with any integration equipment and especially JL amps.
Compared to the DIY method of putting a Kicker 8'' into the factory box and running it into a Kicker key 500.1, the JL sounds loads better.
Enough to warrant the high price tag as it is a completely discrete and powerful sub and enclosure.
Creative audio has the new version in stock that is slightly cheaper and improved from the v1 iteration.

The change is the material used to manufacture the enclosure, which appears to be marine-grade plastic. Aside from that, the subwoofer, internal volume, and overall performance has not changed. JL indicated that there should not be a noticeable difference between the two.

The reason that JL changed enclosure material from wood to plastic was based on not being able to keep up with backorders or demand for the existing Stealthbox, so they switched to a material that is more accessible to clear backorders, and keep up with existing demand.

To defeat resonance, MDF (engineered wood) is and will always remain king, but if anyone can make a plastic enclosure work, it would be JL.

It appears that the plastic version is around 20 pounds lighter.

Improved? Not in my opinion...

Material has changed, yes. But also the speaker cable terminates out the side closer to the open/OEM amp mount space. Also, the resin in the old one was very messy when mounting. It also created some issues where the top most mount was creaking on the Bronco. Had to take it out and then plug the hole or else resin would be flying everywhere! In my opinion, it was an easier and improved install.
