Exactly! I worked a crash in the San Bernardino Mountains (SR38) back in the day where a teenage girl (alleged driver) and her boyfriend wrecked on a curve at high speed. She swore she was driving, but I had my doubts as her "boyfriend" had been drinking. It was her Dad's car. This was a "graveyard" crash at about 0100 hours. She swore up and down that she was driving and her HBD boyfriend was the passenger.Aaaahhh, the daughter, maybe not. But the boyfriend... or even just a boy, friend that has seen a few too many TikToks or YouTube videos talked her into letting him drive, "just for a minute, I promise to be careful". Your Bronco has been airborne I bet!
Two days later I was told I had an AI (Accident Investigation) interview after briefing. Well lo and behold, Dad was in the interview room with his daughter. Dad was able to drag the truth out of her and she confessed to me that her boyfriend was the actual driver. No idea how the case turned out, but they were both cited for giving false information.
