Ok, so we might be moving to Tennessee from the PNW. So uh, how's the wheeling down there? What kind of trails are there? Any good dispersed camping? I've never been there so any insights would be helpful. Thanks.

My good friend moved outside of the Nashville area a couple years ago from San Diego. He's been really disappointed in the off-roading aspect. Out here in SoCal we have so much BLM land, so many trails its almost endless. Out there it's mostly offroad parks which are few and far between and select few areas you can actually offroad. Lots of areas are about to be shutdown from all the side by sides that have taken over. Pull up OnX offroad and take a look around, it'll give you a bit of an idea.

What places are about to be shut down?
I have not heard this.

Windrock is the obvious answer. And depending on which part of TN, if you're going to be close to KY there's some good spots, including the DBB trails.

Anyone moving from the west to the east coast is going to be disappointed by the amount of available land. The west has endless amounts of public land.
That said TN has great east coast wheeling in and around it.

From what I understand there's talks of both Prentice Cooper and Coalmont being closed down. Prentice Cooper due to the influx of ATV's and SxS's not following marked trails and observing speed limits and groups leaving trash. Coalmont I guess theres issues with people leaving the park and running up and down the waterfalls. Take it with a grain of salt. I just know what my friend tells me and I see in the Facebook groups.

Eastern Tennessee is where you want to look for actual East Coast wheeling...

I haven't heard anything about Coalmont being shut down. Sounds like fake news.

There are tons of places on the East Coast for trail expeditions and dispersed camping. Check out the Virginia Adventure Trail (VAT), Georgia Traverse, all kinds of great places up in SE Kentucky and West Virginia.

There's plenty to explore and enjoy over here.

I dunno I usually leave the state outside going to WIndrock Park which isn't that often. I was just up in Cumberland Gap KY area which is about 100 miles from my house. The more East of Nashville area the better. Both KY, NC, and GA have a lot more forest trails than TN.

If I can put my stuff back together, Coalmont is a short drive and I have a blast there. I have an annual pass.
