I've lived in Chicagoland my whole life, 10 year plan is to relocate/retire in TN.

Hearing about WIndrock and Coalmont is very exciting for me. Hopefully they are sill up and running strong at that time.

Coppinger Cove? Noooo
Yeah, people have been pushing that to be closed for years between the rescues during high water, stripping and burning cars, driving into AC cave etcetera.

I saw the permits were limited to 25 per day. I'm planning on using the Cove to get my final destination at Coalmont at some point this summer.

Ok, so we might be moving to Tennessee from the PNW. So uh, how's the wheeling down there? What kind of trails are there? Any good dispersed camping? I've never been there so any insights would be helpful. Thanks.
As Washington State ex-pat living in Virginia, prepare for disappointment when it comes to dispersed camping. There's not a lot of public land here like you're used to. While you'll find some, it's nothing like it is back home.

Thanks all for the insights. Another Tennessee question is where do you keep your RV's if you got them? We tend to flat tow the Bronco quite a bit. But in poking around looking at homes I don't see a lot of RV parking at houses, side or around back garages, and a lot of HOA's. Just seems a bit different that what we're used to in WA.

All my buddies in TN say the state is full, no more room…lol
You can pay a premium to move here though. My house has tripled in value in 8 years. Cleared .75 acre lots in new subs are 100k by builders who are charging $300/325 sqft. Farmland by me is going for 48k acre. My insurance went up $700 yr due to replacement cost value. Sitting on a gold mine now and like most none of us will be selling anytime soon or ever hence the shortage / skyrocket costs.

There are boat loads of storage facilities around me that house RVs/Boats due to the uneven residential land. Also HOAs in TN are not usually what you think they are and not as restrictive, most are to pay for upkeep in subdivision common open/park areas/trash pickup etc.
