Can you tell me what is the nature of that sound deadening? Is it something like dynamat under the carpet or a coating on the inside of the doors and firewall? The only noise mitigation I have heard about is the headliner.
There is sound deadening on the inner hood.

I played around with a dealer demo today for about 30 minutes (didn't drive it though). Badlands, lux, option wheels. The windows were definitely catching if I didn't pause after pulling the door handle and vibrating.

Another odd thing was that the plastic on the B pillar was loose/coming out from being the weather stripping. I tucked it back in, but it was definitely not secured in any way where the top portion meets the bottom about halfway down.

Also noticed the soft top flopped down in my face in the back seat when it was folded back. Probably exacerbated by the fact that I am 6'4".

On the plus side, the B&O system sounded great, even when we popped the soft top back. The leather seats were also great - any issues with the wrinkled leather weren't present.
I agree, BO sound system was better than I thought it would be.

I have a 15 year old frame-less window Mustang that opens a half inch every time you open the door. 15 years ago when I saw that design, i was just as apprehensive as the OP. Truth be told.... It has worked flawlessly every time.
Its a non issue.

The OP, like many, who first see the frameless window operation are skeptics. Its purely a perception issue. An incorrect perception. Put it to rest. its a good design and a reliable part of the car.

Wrong. As I pointed out in my post a few posts up, Bronco’s implementation absolutely blows compared to other brands who do frameless.

With how bad the Bronco is, I’d prefer that the windows all just drop a quarter inch when the vehicle is unlocked and roll back up when it is locked. My BMWs and Tesla’s receded quickly enough to never, ever, ever catch the weather stripping.

edit: maybe you’re not saying that all frameless windows operate this way, but rather that Bronco’s crappy implementation just won’t break anything over 15 years. Maybe this is true, but other manufacturers prove that this doesn’t have to exist as something to talk about in the first place.

Keep in mind you are comparing a 4 runner that has 31 or 32 inch tires to a wildtrak that has 35" tires...There is a huge huge difference there. Put some 35s on the 4 runner and see what it does......or drive a Bronco with the 2.7 and some 32s and see how it goes....Off the line the 2.7 will be slow due to turbo spool as well and as you mentioned once it gets going...its pretty quick.
Yes, you’re right tire size obviously makes a difference. The 4Runner is P245 so about 32” as you say. I have never taken the time to figure out the rear diff gearing in the 4Runner but I suspect the Limited version is geared more toward highway performance rather than off road. But the tall tires that come with the SAS are accounted for in the 4.7 ratio. If I put 35” tires on a 4Runner I would drop in new gears. Actually, I may have mischaracterized my observation “off the line”. It wasn’t so much slow as not smooth. Not sure exactly how to describe what I felt. Again, maybe it was the tranny learning thing. Or maybe I just didn’t have the vehicle long enough to look into that a bit more. The dealer really didn’t want me to take it. Their idea of a test drive was “around the block.” As I mentioned, I wanted to take it home for a few minutes but felt hurried.

That is a much smarter way of doing it IMO. Now I'm wondering, can this be changed with an OTA update?

Well I don't know but I have two cars with this design and they both work flawlessly. One is a Mustang.

Does the mustang window catch on the weather stripping?

Sorry about that @Yamahamer. WT=Wildtrak one of the seven current Bronco trim levels. OB=Outer Banks, another Bronco trim level. This web site shows the trim levels that are often abbreviated on bronco6G and you can probably figure out the abbreviations for those other trim levels, e.g., BB = Big Bend, BD = Black Diamond, etc.

https://shop.ford.com/configure/bronco/model/customize/blackdiamond

EB = early Bronco, the original Bronco built during model years 1966-1977, on this site would probably more appropriately called 1G, meaning First Generation. But us old Bronco nerds more often use the abbreviation “EB” and believe it’s charm will never be duplicated. There have been 6 generations of Ford Broncos (1G, 2G,…,6G). This web site is called 6G because it’s largely devoted to the sixth and latest generation of the Ford Bronco, which is currently being rolled out. Oops forgot, MY = model year, for example MY21 means model year 2021, which is the first year of the sixth generation (6G) of the Ford Bronco. Hope this clarifies things. And yeah, when I first started monitoring bronco6G and saw all the abbreviations, I thought WTF, which stands for…
Started this wiki for everyone. @Yamahamer check out this post.

Edit: Oh yeah, the Bronco’s implementation of the frameless window drop absolutely blows compared to the other vehicles I’ve owned with frameless windows (2 Tesla’s, 2 BMWs). On those, the window drops far enough and fast enough when you open the door to clear the weather stripping and metal borders completely as the door opens, resulting in no boingy boingy of the window. One of my Bronco windows actually makes a boingy boingy sound as it bounces back and forth when opening the door, but the rest just do it mostly silently with no sound effects.
”Frameless window drop”! I couldn’t figure out what to call it. I had a 1990 Porsche 911 Cab, of course, with frameless windows. Of all the crap and BS on that car (no cup holder!), the one thing that worked well was the window seals. They didn’t execute that drop to seal. They also didn’t leak. Hard to believe Ford couldn’t come up with a better design element. I’ve rented a few Mustangs over the years and I can’t remember them doing that.

Not so smart actually, it would be extremely obvious to anyone interested in
looting your vehicle that it was unlocked from 20 feet away.
