Is there any point in which Ford dealers are going to get educated on the Bronco? I've dealt with two different dealers during this process and thanks to this forum (as mostly a lurker), and I knew more than both of them. I've decided to convert my day 1 reservation to a 2022MY for various reasons and went to my dealer to do so today. They tried to tell me that I need to cancel my 2021 reservation and rebook a new 2022 reservation. Had I not been lurking this forum, I would have done just that, since the dealer is supposed to know what they're talking about. Luckily after "checking with their manager" for the third time, he agreed that I could convert my existing reservation to an order, but they wouldn't build it until 2022's are ready. When mentioned a code 99, he looked like a deer in headlights!

I feel like Ford has fumbled this thing from start to finish. If I haven't been wanting a Bronco since I was 4 years old, I would have been long gone by now.

ETA: yes, I blame Ford AND the dealership. Ford has fumbled this launch since the beginning, and the lack of knowledge at the dealership level is one more to add to the list. I get they don't own the dealerships, but if they represented my brand, I'd make sure that basic knowledge of the process is forced upon them.
That's why is really important to be prepare before buying a vehicle. It doesn't matter what brand or dealer you go to. You just need be prepared more than them.

But you have (most of us have) already ordered the car. Lol

What else do you need them to do, aside from deliver the vehicle whenever Ford produces and provides it?
How about correctly answering any questions I might have, or modify my order without destroying my reservation timestamp? -- The dealership that wanted the guy to cancel his order and submit a brand new one are a bunch of morons or crooks, or both. WTF are they getting paid for if they can't even correctly update an order?

Sure, they should be able to place your order and convert the rsvp. It took two trips and 1.5 hours for dealership to get it right...it's a racket. I'm not sticking up for them.

I think it is ridiculous that I can build the exact vehicle I want online, then I have to take my specs to a gatekeeper to "input" the order for me and take mh money. It is entirely ridiculous, and the model should go extinct.

At the end of the day, they are the gate keeper. I have to go through the dealer to get the Bronco.

What's $1000 man? That's not any real money. There's no commission on that, nor can a dealership spend it.

If you're thinking about interest, these are the lowest interest rates almost ever, so there's no money to make off of interest. Trust, I would know since I'm an Economist.

That deposit is also refundable, so it isn't doing anything but taking up space on an accounting document.

None of us has done a thing for any dealership or more importantly, the poor sales guy; and I don't have sympathy for sales guys since I hate that business, but a spade is a spade.

Leave these folks alone and let them work. Get your OCD off on this forum and refreshing MotorTrend.com and watching TFL or Bronco Nation on YouTube and Instagram, not by irritating the people who work at dealerships.

Yeah, Broncos coming back is really cool, but Bronco customers are a real drag which may not make it worth it in the end for them.
I'm with you my man, I have zero problems with my dealership! A bunch of good people doing the best they can! I have been to my dealer 2 times, when I ordered and I went back in about a month ago and added the Towing package🤬🤯😱!!! Hell I don't even any qualms with Ford. Again, they're just trying to make the best out of a F@#$&# up situation.
Real Question, zero sarcasm here...I understand they can't use my deposit, and it is refundable. But, wouldn't they put that money in a special account? And would it be interest bearing? Or is that a no no?

Going to your dealership, your relationship with your dealership, offering over MSRP, none of this is going to help you get your truck any faster, it's just showing OCD by many of the guys here. Please find something more constructive to do with your day instead of obsessing over this thing; it isn't healthy or cute at all.
Perspective is good. Its just a car.

With the Bronco, the salespeople already have a sale, you've already "ordered" your Bronco from Ford. You truck is not arriving until later in the year. The salespeople have product on the lot that it is their job to sell. What would you do? I know I'd concentrate on the vehicles out on the lot.
I wont mention the dealer name, but the salesman told me they usually have 300+ new cars on the lot and are down to 17 left. So I am thinking, what the hell is remaining......apparently something called an EcoSport (aka a small go cart looking thingy). I wouldn't be surprised if they "reorganized" during the break.

I believe it's been mentioned before that a lot of salesmen and dealerships are getting fed up with the Bronco as they aren't making a dime off of them yet and without a commission to be made at this point they really aren't interested in catering to the multiple phone calls, emails and demands of reservation holders. Not saying all of them, and my salesman isn't one of them, but I can see this happening. My point is, perhaps Ford is releasing the info to the dealerships and maybe they just aren't interested enough to really pay attention or care about it? The bronco isn't everyone's favorite vehicle and it can be hard not to get tunnel vision on this forum. Again, it's not in Ford's best interest to leave their customer facing representatives without information or training so why would they intentionally withhold information? Your dealership probably just doesn't care enough to research unfortunately....
I don't understand this. It's almost a guaranteed sale, and most aren't going under MSRP (yes, I know some are below, but my sense is that majority are not). At what other time does a salesman NOT have to "sell" a vehicle, and still get MSRP? And what's that like $10K over invoice? For doing nothing but the computer work. Damn. Maybe I should go be a Bronco "salesman." Give me the easy work.

Look, I get where the dealers are coming from and I get it, but IT IS THEIR JOB TO KNOW THIS STUFF. If dealers want to be around in 10 years, they need to provide more than I can currently get with a 5 minute web search. Otherwise most can expect to be put of of business by the few who know what they are doing.

I have 8 Ford dealers within an hours drive. If I can test drive the model I'm interested in then order exactly what I want online, do we really need the other 7? Sure I can't drive one off the lot but delivered to my door sure wouldn't suck.

I’ve dealt with 3 different Porsche dealerships, I always know more about my prospective purchase than the salesman. Always.

Well with some dealerships with hundreds of reservations they better learn quick.

Well, from the dealer's side, Ford is the one who changed the sales process for the Bronco and tried their best attempt at a "sell to consumer" model before a vehicle was even launched. Ford hasn't even done their actual product training at the dealership yet(ours is scheduled this month), so in most salespeople's defense, they have had nothing to learn. The Bronco isn't here, isn't being sold yet, and Ford hasn't trained them on it yet.

But yes, I get that every dealership is supposed to have a Bronco specialist, and I'm sure some dealers are doing better or worse than others. When it comes to things tossed around here like priority codes, 19, 99, etc...these are things that 99% of salespeople don't have access to and don't ever get requests to know. Those are management level things being done and if weren't for people on forums like this, most consumers would never have that knowledge either.

IMO, Ford asked dealers to do something they'd never done before with inadequate infrastructure at the dealer level to handle it....just my $.02....

Before it used to be “I’ll take my business somewhere else” , now it’s, “ I’ll make the business do what I want”. If dealers or ford had the ability to drop your res/order place in line, would you still be acting the way you are?

dealers should do this, ford should have done that...geeez really?
