It's frustrating that a f%cked ABS sensor would disable it, there's no reason for that. I'm sure it's part the disabling over 20 mph feature though, if it can't tell how fast you're going it shuts it down.

The front locker being disabled was a much bigger problem though.
That really sucks. Not having the font locked & pulling could be a real problem depending where you are. :cautious: Need to find an override for this.

Thanks for the pics...damn big rock that got sucked up.

I grew up in a rural-ish area and spent a lot of time in the woods...had my fair share of ticks. 23mo ago now on a hike with a buddy I picked up one that I ended up getting Lyme Disease from, yes wore jeans and used bug/tick spray.

Found the tick inside of 12hrs (took a shower after the hike and found 1 but I must have missed another as I found it the next morning) and started the treatment within 24hrs. Big ole 3.5x4in red target circle on my thigh. Of course I have been also one of the few to apparently get post treatment Lyme disease syndrome and it has SUCKED but has gotten better. Long story short be careful.

On 5/15 at about 10am we all met in Mullan, Idaho where the Jeep was unloaded off the trailer and the Broncos aired down. From there it was just a few minutes drive to the trailhead. 3 Broncos came out, my BL on 35s, a CO BL on 37s with 3.5" lift, and a GC BB on Sasquatch wheels. Unfortunately after about 10 minutes the BB learned that Sasquatch wheels do not a Sasquatch make, as he had no lockers, and he turned around when he realized the difficulty level.

The rest of us plowed onwards. The trail was very challenging at times. Loose smaller rocks, fallen trees, large rocks, tight turns, and lots of driving in the creek. I struggled with a few fallen logs, I didn't have the belly height to clear them and had to be pulled off twice. The lifted 4 door and the Jeep had no issues there. At the very end of the trail was a waterfall that was the only thing that denied our Broncos. The Jeep on 1 tons and 40s went through fine. The 4dr almost made it, I didn't even attempt after seeing him try.

Then we turned around and ran the trail in reverse. Going downhill should have been uneventful, but then my luck ran out. As you may have seen in my other post, I managed to suck up a large rock into my wheel well. It trashed some brake components. We removed the wheel to get it out and tried to continue but my brakes kept locking up and I lost the use of my swaybar disconnect and front locker which made it very challenging and I needed several pulls before we got back to the dirt road. At that point my brakes we smoking so we stopped and pinched off the damaged line and bled both front calipers, it let them release so I could drive home.

Regardless of the damage, it was still a very fun trail that will test your Bronco. Highly recommended.

Oh and a PSA: If you spend a day in the woods with your soft top flipped back, don't be surprised if you get a tick shower when you close it. My poor wife picked half a dozen out of her hair.

Curious, what did you all air down to? And I assume non-bead lock tires

No beadlocks. We were all around 14-15. Hit a couple logs and burped one to 10 before we were done.

That Jeep is definitely a beastie. Did you keep your trophy rock? Something for the mantle so the wife can just point at it when you're doing something that wives think is less than brilliant?

I regrettably did not.

The Jeep pushed me to build the Samurai instead of thrashing my poor Bronco. I'm making a 14 hour round trip tomorrow to pick up yota axles, e-lockers, and 38s on beadlocks.

Thanks for sharing the awesome pics! Other than the rock who's name shall not be spoken, it looks like a great adventure!

In light of the ABS/Computer controlled "goodness", you might want to look into splicing waterproof connectors to the two wires going to each locker and the pair that go to the swaybar disconnect.

Just run a few well places micro-toggle switches in the cab with whatever voltage the Can-Bus is sending to the lockers (measure voltage to each while engaged to find out) and sway-bar disconnects and then individually to each locker and the disconnect. They are just dongles near the splices with their own waterproof plug.

Next time the ABS/computer disables these, just unplug the waterproof connectors and and swap them out for the waterproof connectors fed from the toggle switches. It would at least give you the ability to manually engage when this inevitably happens again.

Disclaimer: For offroad use only ;)

Nice, get us some pix when you get that running. Not that the Samurai should be considered as a sacrificial ride, more like a Tora! Tora! Tora! Kamikazemobile.

LOL!! I've gotten small trees, still planted in the ground, stuck between a wheel and the body, but man those must be some "sticky" tires to get that large a rock up in there. Had to be one of those logs just somehow jammed it in there.

Wha-da-ya-mean? Why a level kit and 35’s on a stock geared M190 absolutely is just as capable as a Sasquatch BL … Heck you can fit 37’s in there and it will be better!

;)

Thanks for volunteering to create a "how-to" for us Mech-Eng types....
This would be nice to have some spares in the kit before going off grid.
