Maybe the windows were rolled down and he heard the stereo generated noises... heh.TFL mentioned that the engine sounds like the 4cyl. Can they really make that call on initial start up? I'd think the 4 & 6 cyl EcoBoost would sound nearly identical there. Just seems like one wouldn't be able to make such a call with such minimal exposure.
Funny story, my buddy has an F150 that had the base sync 3 stereo, and wanted something louder. Found a JBL add-on that was supposed to be a dealer option but never made it, that worked with the factory deck/stereo, just amplified all of the sound to the speakers and added 2 small subs. After we installed all of it, the "exhaust" got a lot louder and deeper... The factory stereo has no clue the signal was tapped into and amplified before being sent to better/more speakers... so the thing sounds a lot more pissed off (on the inside) especially when towing, lol.
