So I noticed this on a jeep wrangler parked next to me at whole foods. Looks incomplete without rock rails

Wrangler Sahara & Rubicon have a Rock Slider with Step Assist as a $995.00 factory option; Ford will probably have a similar option available by the 2022 model year if not sooner.

Thanks. The real thing looks much better than the cgi.
Do you know if the rock rails mount to the frame at all? I read on the 6G forums that they are mounted to the body which seems like an odd choice for rails IMO. https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/rock-rails-frame-mounted.2936/
I do not know for sure, but I read body mount as well. I'm going to get these, and if something comes along better I can do the frame mounted ones later. This looks unfinished to me

I like how the rails tie the black wheels /fenders from the front to the back.

Also, what I noticed was that most (not all) of the pre-production models have the rails or steps to hide that weld. So if you think it is being delivered looking like one of the models you better check. The base doesn't come with them

I saw this picture of the side steps in another thread. I don't think the metal lip with holes above the steps is a good look. Will the rock rails hide it? If so I'll consider changing from steps to rails.

There will be a number of after market options also. For my Tacoma, I got steps that sit a little higher and cover up that area.

So if you want the functionality of steps, you will have them, just have to wait a month or two until the non OEM options flood the market.

I was rather shocked to see actual pix on the BD which was significantly different than the renderings on B&P. (Shame on me for trusting that...) I was rather pleased that they look ok to me.

I do not recall the brand, probably many more out there in AF, but I think it was Rockslide Engineers, anyway they have a combo rock rail/power step product. Not cheap but addresses ugly pinch welds, need for the wife to tolerate the SASQ, provides for rock crawling and to my taste looks better than the stationary boards when they are tucked up where you can not see them.

I agree. Paint it black or cover it up

Ford has a add on step in the works for the factory rock rails. They show it on their virtual sema 2dr bronco badlands build.

^ I'm going to do the above rock rail mounted step.

I currently have a problem with the full length steps on my F-150 supercrew. They accumulate a lot of snow and ice that later creates a lake in my garage.

Hopefully the Bronco rock rails with a small step won't be as bad.
