Ordered 4dr OB with 2.7 L, Lux package and what we thought was a dual soft / MIC top. Initial placeholder order was made on the first day of release. Order for the unit was made on 1/21. Walked into the assigned dealer with a print out of the build we wanted. The salesman was great, but the order specialist seemed to be a novice. Was told that the soft top option wasn't able to be ordered in the system along with the MIC in the initial days, but would make sure that it was added.

Fast forward to 7/1 - We get the email that our unit is scheduled for an August build. We know this shouldn't be the case due to dual tops getting pushed to the '23 model year. This was a red flag to contact the dealer. The dealer checked the order and said that it had not been added. The unit was being built with MIC only - exciting, but disappointing. Here are the options and concerns moving forward:

-Dealer contact production to make the vehicle a dual top - not a likely option to happen
-Take the build w/ MIC and order the slanted after-market soft top - not a fan
-Dealer take delivery of the special order and sell it to Joe Schmo off the street and place another order for a '23. My understanding is you can't place a new '23 oder with dual (I might be wrong).

Biggest concern is we will lose priority in the build process and/or not get the unit we had hoped for by putting our trust in the ordering process.

Thougts? Anyone else have this experience. Should get some answers today or tomorrow from the dealer after the holdiay weekend. Thanks for your 2 cents!
Another option(s) is to buy it when it arrives and resell it then for a profit, or hold on to it, order what you want, and then either trade or resell it when the new one arrives.

You had an active order on 1\21 and a promise by the dealership to change the order when they could add the dual top.

You then didn't follow up to ensure that change got applied at anytime between Jan and July or that your order was 99ed when you knew that dual tops wasn't going to be an option.

You call it 'trusting the ordering process'.....but trusting, verifying and communicating with your dealer would have got you what you wanted. At the end of the day though, this isn't a costly mistake. You have the difficult part (MIC top) and have many options for the soft top.

Unless, of course, what you really wanted was to wait for 2023 for reasons that go beyond a factory soft top. In that case your mistake may cost you your original place in line which isn't as big of deal if you are looking to 2023 to order a Bronco.

Seems like you are in a better positon than most. Congrats!!!

I'd consider yourself lucky, really. You're getting the harder-to-obtain part of your dual-top order earlier than most, and you can acquire a soft top at any time. Even by mid next year there will likely be multiple soft top options for you to choose from, you don't necessarily have to get the fastback from Bestop. You'll probably be able to get a stock factory top too.
