Another option(s) is to buy it when it arrives and resell it then for a profit, or hold on to it, order what you want, and then either trade or resell it when the new one arrives.Ordered 4dr OB with 2.7 L, Lux package and what we thought was a dual soft / MIC top. Initial placeholder order was made on the first day of release. Order for the unit was made on 1/21. Walked into the assigned dealer with a print out of the build we wanted. The salesman was great, but the order specialist seemed to be a novice. Was told that the soft top option wasn't able to be ordered in the system along with the MIC in the initial days, but would make sure that it was added.
Fast forward to 7/1 - We get the email that our unit is scheduled for an August build. We know this shouldn't be the case due to dual tops getting pushed to the '23 model year. This was a red flag to contact the dealer. The dealer checked the order and said that it had not been added. The unit was being built with MIC only - exciting, but disappointing. Here are the options and concerns moving forward:
-Dealer contact production to make the vehicle a dual top - not a likely option to happen
-Take the build w/ MIC and order the slanted after-market soft top - not a fan
-Dealer take delivery of the special order and sell it to Joe Schmo off the street and place another order for a '23. My understanding is you can't place a new '23 oder with dual (I might be wrong).
Biggest concern is we will lose priority in the build process and/or not get the unit we had hoped for by putting our trust in the ordering process.
Thougts? Anyone else have this experience. Should get some answers today or tomorrow from the dealer after the holdiay weekend. Thanks for your 2 cents!
