Wow ok, I feel dumb now...... Haven't taken the doors off yet. It looks like shit for something put into a new kit. The end is uneven and looks like it snapped off.

It's going to look worse once you start using it to put the doors back on. It's probably Delrin plastic, which is a hard, durable industrial plastic but with a low finished surface quality.

If the alignment pin were made of, say stainless steel, it would eventually start flairing the hinge bolt hole. The alignment pin is made of plastic to prevent damage to the door hinge.

Form follows function. Not everything Ford does is fucked up.
The alignment pin is steel.
