Found in my tool bag zipper pouch. Assume another tooling piece left behind? Appears to be snapped off at the thread end.

I had no clue either. And yes, mine looks just like yours.Wow ok, I feel dumb now...... Haven't taken the doors off yet. It looks like shit for something put into a new kit. The end is uneven and looks like it snapped off.
The alignment pin is steel.It's going to look worse once you start using it to put the doors back on. It's probably Delrin plastic, which is a hard, durable industrial plastic but with a low finished surface quality.
If the alignment pin were made of, say stainless steel, it would eventually start flairing the hinge bolt hole. The alignment pin is made of plastic to prevent damage to the door hinge.
Form follows function. Not everything Ford does is fucked up.
