My 2010 Ford Edge has it, and the 1999 Explorer before that! The best feature! I use it everyday. Being able to access the car without keys/fobs is great. Leave your stuff behind but secure when you want. I wouldn’t own a vehicle without it.
If you order it factory is it wired on the Bronco? My current one is. This is the first I have seen that you can pick the place it is positioned.
It’s wired but dealer installed. Wireless does not work with intelligent open start...

For those that say you can't lock the keys in the car, there is a trick to it. If I recall, you cannot press the lock button on the inside and then close the door. It will not stay locked. Instead, you must close the door and then press the last two buttons on the keypad simultaneously and it will lock all doors. There are a couple of other shortcuts too, like on the trucks I believe pressing the 5/6 button after punching in your code will unlock and/or drop the tailgate. I can't remember for sure.

A word of caution though... I have heard insurance companies will not cover a stolen car if you intentionally locked the keys inside.

I will most likely get the option. I find myself needing to get into vehicles when I don't have the keys far too often and I am too lazy to go and grab them. It's a nice feature that only Ford has, but unfortunately it has been poorly executed on the Bronco.

Not getting it but I've read others are so that they can lock their keys in their car. Honestly not sure if this is even possible to do. My vehicle is a 2011 and even back then if it sensed my keys IN the car, it wouldn't lock. A safety feature so that you don't lock your keys in. Saved my hide a few times tbh in these past ten years

It works by you saving a code and then you use the code to enter your car
My 2014 Escape has the keypad and it does detect the keys but if you punch in the code then it lets you lock the car. Pretty nice feature when you dont want to risk losing your keys. (Just make sure the key is hidden and not a flashing sign for someone to come steal your car)

Love the keyless entry. The keys to our Escape and Explorer never leave the vehicle...lock and unlock with the keypad, get in and go.

I’m planning on adding it, but need to see how they implement it. With current vehicles, it’s usually on the door above the handle or in the b-pillar. My expedition has it in the b-pillar and you don’t even see it because they’re electrostatic buttons under the plastic that light up when you touch there. I don’t think Ford will put it on the door since the door is removable, but we’ve seen one pre-production unit with it on the door and looking really cheap and out of place so I’m sure that wasn’t the final design.

They’re a 5 digit combination code. Real handy if you need to lock up the vehicle and leave your keys and phone behind.
The photo IS how they're implementing it on Bronco, unfortunately.

I think I may skip it because of that.

My beeper key fob stopped working years ago. I’ve had it recoded, fresh battery, it simply doesn’t last. Just a bum fob and I don’t feel like paying $200 or whatever to have a bee one coded for me. So this keypad is very handy for me. I use it all the time on my 2012 Edge.

I'll not own vehicle without it. The convenience of the keypad to me FAR outweighs any arguments against it...IMHO

It is patented by Ford, you won't find it on any other brand (besides Lincoln)
...well, you can at least get it on the Chevy Colorado.

I think it was a staple for Ford's for a while. I think thats where the rumor comes from
It was for a long time, but patents do have expiry dates...
Colorado/Canyon twins seem to be the only vehicles in the GM line to offer it - likely because their marketing folks see these as likely to skew towards the "active lifestyle" set that would likely use it the most.

Still wish more people would do what Jag/ Land Rover does with their "activity key" and integrate the proximity key into a waterproof wrist band.

I would have added it just as a possible backup ... If they had it hidden in the b-pillar behind glass trim. It's too fugly and will not be getting it now. Just looks like a complete after-thought.
