I know that there are a lot of options out there and I wanted to know if anyone had a good mid-level compromise on this. I currently Only have an Eibach Spring lift on my bronco and don't want to weight down the front too much and sacrifice clearance. I know that the VBEST solution to this is to get a proper coil-over kit, but was just wondering if anyone out there did the "winch thing" w/ a stock SAS setup or spring lift. I saw that LOBO makes nice, lightweight bumper with an internal winch.....and some other options out there are just plain heavy. Also the the actual winch matters - anything at a 10,000 lb capacity or above is good. There is a Warn one I know of that weighs only 25 lbs, with synthetic rope. Thoughts?

I have the RC high winch mount with a 10k Zeon Platinum on stock SAS, I could measure front clearance now. 🤷‍♂️. Doesn’t look nose heavy but who knows how much was lost, if any.

WOW.....that's a NICE winch. Thanks for the details and measuring. so the WAN was direct bolt on to the Rough Country bracket? No modifications? How HEAVY is that winch you have? I'm considering a WARN EV 12s, BUT also the Badlands APEX. Warn is 54 lbs. and Apex Badlands is 67 lbs.

Any pics of it on your Bronco? :) DO you also have the Light bar?? DRL version?

Direct bolt, it’s typical 10”x4 1/2” bolt pattern. It’s a heavy sucker at 80lbs. I have the non drl version.

WHOA...that is a BIIIIIIIG Boy winch. so far happy with build quality and fitment yes? Thanks for all the info btw - and if later on today you can take a side-shot.....I tried looking but I can't see how much it sticks out when looking from the side - So I can gauge approach angle. Thanks man! NICE color btw!!!! (of the Bronco)

I wasn't a fan of the look of the JCR or RC, this worked perfect for me!

JCR Offroad’s aluminum bumper is 50 pounds while their steel version is 95#.

Ford’s modular bumper is 80# (I weighed mine after I removed it).

JCR Offroad‘s winch plate that attaches to Ford’s modular bumper is 50#.

My Warn Zeon 10S with synthetic rope, Factor 55 fairlead and Factor 55 hook is 71#.

With those specs you can do the math for different combinations.

FWIW I removed all my factory bash plates and bumper and replaced with JCR’s steel winch bumper, a Baja bar and all of JCR’s bash plates. I also removed the rear seats in my two door. This added 130# vs OEM, most of it up front, and I lost about 1/2” in the front and 1/4” on the rear.

JCR winch plate and Apex Badland winch on Badlands: lost only 1/4 inch measured at front of winch plate.
Think it’s a non issue.

I read on another thread that the 2.3 guys with winches were saying they had nose dive on braking with the extra 120# on the front bumper. Apparently the 2.7L is ~120# heavier than the 2.3L so swapping to 2.7L springs worked well with the winch. I’m interested in an aluminum bumper with a winch, the JCR one with a 70# winch only adds 40# on the front of the truck compared to the mod bumper, or 20# compared to the mod bumper and JCR prerunner hoop I have now. Unfortunately I don’t like how low the winch mounts on their winch bumper.

Haven’t noticed any nose dive but I’ll pay more attention.

Yeah, think low lying winches can be problematic when you really need them in bogged downs.

I think I've decided on the Rough Country one - sits highest up and CLOSER to the grill. THis preserves the original "approach angle." Plus it also has a cool light bar included w/ daytime running light feature. Pretty cool :)
