One of the only things we’ve ever found lacking in our 2-door Broncos was a center armrest for rear passengers. We regularly fold and occasionally remove the driver-side rear seat for our medium-large-sized (~110#) dog, so we wanted it to (1) allow folding of the driver-side seat without armrest removal, (2) not have to be rock-solid, but to be stable enough that one can plant their hand there when entering the rear seat, (3) be easily removable for folding both seats when/if needed with no rear passengers.

We went with a simple solution that’s worked very well over the car’s first roadtrip (though we’d make some minor changes now that we know it’s worthy of being semi-permanent).

  1. Order a cheap-o removable armrest from Amazon
In our case, we ordered one with finish similar to our new ‘25 Badlands’ interior (black MGV, White Stitching): https://a.co/d/dXzr9fr

  2. Add Corner Brackets (from Home Depot, etc).
    Notes:
    1. In our case, we installed two (2) 5" corner brackets from Home Depot with the brackets mounted low on the plastic base so that our daughter would have an above-seat barrier from the dog. But for most use-cases I'd suggest mounting them snugly to the bottom so the base rests on the floor for better stability.
    2. We only installed the brackets in 1 direction as I didn’t want the dog to damage his paws if mounted in both directions with rear seat removed.
      1. IF WANTING A REMOVEABLE ARMREST: I’d recommend installing this way or (for better stability) adding another 1-2 corner brackets in the opposite direction for added stability and maybe adding a small amount of Velcro to the ends of each to prevent slipping.
      2. If you don’t mind a SEMIPERMANENT ARMREST WITH ADDED STABILITY: I would use a bracket setup that could allow one of the seat bolts to hold the armrest firmly to the floor]

  3. Place the brackets under the rear seat bottom (in our case, the passenger side as we had mounted the brackets in the same direction as the armrest’s designed directional bias & wanted the driver's side to fold) and bingo-bango, you have a removeable rear seat armrest in your 2-door that will still allow 1 seat to fold without armrest removal.

Wait, you get more light in the rear now? I wonder if it is as simple are removing the old panel and intalling the new style panel with 4 lights vs 2.

Oh, and the armrest looks great, seems to match pretty well.

Funny you say that. We went from a Basesquatch to a Lux Badsquatch and figured the better lighting was part of the lux upgrades. Can someone with a 21-24 Lux or 25+ non-lux confirm (might get better visibility on another thread though)? There’s also some really nice exterior zone lighting that we definitely didn’t have before.

On the armrest front: rear seat occupants are pleased.

Well, I have the WT with lux, it only has one rear overhead light for the back seats, and I have the zone lighting. I think that extra lighting in the back is a new upgraded feature for the 25+

That's correct. I had a 2025 moar door loaner and it also had the dual rear light setup.

Though, I've upgraded and added lights already, so not needed for me.

Are there any 2-doors that still have rear seats ?

Last time I saw my rear seats they were sitting next to Granger’s dumpster….

True fact = 2-door Broncos with seat deleted have a bigger bed than a Ford Maverick. I haul all sorts of stuff back there. Earlier this week I had an outboard motor back there.

Just checked mine and can confirm: No rear seats.

They just kinda evaporate after a few months. Don't know what happens to them :p

Have you had adult-sized people back there? I’m wondering how much the armrest intrudes on seat worth for full-sized people. 🙂
