I tried a bunch of different phone mount options, including a few of the dash mount solutions, and was not happy with any of them. That being the case, I decided to make my own.

Ford Bronco Custom Console Offroad Phone Mount _R5_4088

I used the mount points for the factory center console handle, and created a very rigid mount plate for a 1" ball. That gave me a mounting point for a RAM mount arm and cell phone cradle which are perfect for secure offroad travel.

The plate is milled from insanely rigid 1/4" G10 (which is a fiberglass composite) with recessed hardware for the ball mount. It was sprayed with a textured satin black to match the interior. Stainless steel bolts and spacers were used to mount it to the console through the factory handle.

The result looks extremely clean (in my humble opinion at least) and is incredibly rigid. There is zero wobble or vibration regardless of road/trail surface and its a very quick one-handed operation in and out, even with the heavy duty springs on the ram phone cradle.

I tried using the same ram arm and phone cradle from a dash mounted ball but it was unusable with vibration due to the angle of the arm coming off the dash. This new plate solves all of that.

I am considering making these available for other Bronco owners, but wanted to gauge interest on here first before going down that road.

Shoot me a direct message if you'd be interested in getting one for your rig. I won't be mass producing these or making any effort to market them outside of this thread.

Thanks!

Between this and your sound system install, you definitely are way more handy than I am!

Well done - This looks great! I also found it difficult to find the perfect phone mount, but I ended up going with one that takes up one of my valuable cup holders. Not the end of the world, but I like you're setup!

Art nice job! What was the total cost?
Probably a bit north of $100 in total... but I'd have to check to be sure.
The components from RAM are $65 total from Amazon.... then my material and hardware cost.

Totally worth it for me to not have my phone screen blurry the whole time im driving 😆

I appreciate that bud... ive used the cup holder ones in the past on previous vehicles but just hate the way they look and kill a cup holder, so i wasnt willing to do that with this truck. Certainly more work this way though!

Looks to be a knee buster for the passenger.

TY for the cost outline. Would it be possible to have a longer arm off the mount - with a bend - to still have full usage of the console grab/handle.

Surprisingly its not in the way since its basically vertical from the side of the handle. I'm solo 95% of the time so i didnt care either way when designing it, but my wife hopped in after I made it and didnt even touch it (or notice it was there until I pointed it out).

If you were a really large passenger it may be a nuisance, but in that case it comes off in 5 seconds since the ram arm has a release knob so you can move it around.

I actually pull it and mount it in the rear at night when im camping inside the vehicle so being able to quickly move and swap it was a key design choice for me.

All that being said, it won't be the perfect solution for everyone, but what out there actually is 😄

If you dont need to look at the screen, ever, and its just to connect to your Ford System - ok great.

Very clean setup, I'd be interested! Been looking into something like this to mount an iPad for Onx while on off road trips.
