Just out of curiosity, what do you think it would run with stock config? no mods, no bolt-ons. Do you know if anyone has those numbers?
Between 14.7-15.0. All depends on the launch.

I know that on my Challenger, a dealer can tell if I have swapped out an ECU and swapped it back... Can Ford tell also?
Absolutely. If you care about your powertrain warranty then stick with a ProCal tune. Once your warranty ends then you can come over to the dark side 🕶

So COOOOL! I've had an Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse and Mitsubishi Starion that could hit 12s. It MUST be so fun to rip off the line in the Bronco. Can't wait to hear what it does when you port the turbos, add the injectors and upgrade the cooler! Well done.

Congrats, this is awesome news. I’m one of the rare ones that like speed and 4x4 both.

You mentioned drag mode. I had a 1320 Challenger which was setup with drag radials and special drag mode from the factory. Shifts were near “violent” as they ran max RPM and hit hard. Also it locked out your upper gear ratios as you wouldn’t really hit those in the quarter (1320’) anyhow. That one was best used at the track and not the street.

Hey all,

It's been a long time coming, but I finally did it. I became the the first 6G Ford Bronco to do a 12 second 1/4 mile down the Drag Strip. I ran down the track a total of seven times. Five of which were either 13.0 or 13.1. I also ran a 12.99, but my best time was 12.89 @ 101.76. Many months ago I was able to achieve a 12 second 1/4 mile via a Dragy device, but it's nice to do it "officially". Before some of you comment "You bought the wrong vehicle" Yes, I know the Bronco is not a drag racing machine, but I wanted to do something different instead of building a rock crawler or high speed off-roader. I still take my Bronco off-road and enjoy the outdoors, but 90%+ of the time I'm driving it on the streets and now that it's faster it's a lot more enjoyable to drive.

Here's a full list of the performance modifications it took to get her in the 12's. I know for a fact you can get there with less modifications, but achieving 12's on the street vs. the drag strip are two different things when you're on the stock 35" Goodyears. I suspect lighter and sticker tires would get you there with just a Tune, intake, exhaust, and intercooler. The stock Goodyears hook much better on the streets.

The biggest increase in HP/TQ is going to come from the @ZFGracing E85 tune. Adam from ZFG Racing is one of the best Ecoboost tuners out there and holds the most Ecoboost records when it comes the fastest 1/4 mile times. I know most people don't have an E85 pump next to their house, but their 93 tune only makes 40 HP less or so, which still turns the Bronco into a beast. I'll be doing a full review/video on how to tune your Bronco with ZFG/HP tuners as I know the process may seem a little daunting for most.

It was a slow day at the Fayetteville, NC Drag strip, but beat everything I raced. Keep in mind, nothing I raced was really that fast.

Here's a list
  • Mustang 3.7L w/Exhaust
  • 90's 5.0 Fox body with bolt-ons
  • 2020 F150 2.7L with CAI
  • Mustang 2.3L with a huge turbo (He would've smoked me, but let off mid way down the track, as he's still working out some tuning bugs) Best time he ran was a 12.5
Lots of the regulars and old timers came up to me and expressed their love for the Bronco. They thought It was a sleeper got a kick out of it beating the other down the track. One guy even thought I was running nitrous - lol!

My best run was in "Sand mode" which Adam from ZFG Racing turned into "Drag mode". The shifts are quicker and it revs higher between each shift.

Here's what I did.
  • 2nd Gear Launch
  • 4 High
  • Advance Trac off
  • Rear locker on (Turned it off after I launched)
  • Left the line at 2.5K RPMs
  • Goodyears @ 30 psi
On the street I can leave the line harder (Around 2.75-3K) RPMs
I do get better times on the streets via the Dragy device, as you can see below.

IMG_E3670.JPG

I put together a video showcasing the trip and an overview of the performance modifications I've made to my Bronco. I'll post some pics below as well.

Unfortunately, the track scoreboards were not working and the date and times on their slips were from over a decade ago...haha

Also, reaction times were terrible as i was looking at my tachometer trying to launch a bit better.
I’d expect mid twelves in 2H on drag radials. Without the parasitic loss of the FDU.

Now drag race it with no doors or roof. Shed the weight and see how she does.

Thanks for posting the mods and the video. Looks like you had a lot of fun with this. I respect wanting to do something different. Life is too short to "be just like everyone else".

@MMWILD (or any others that have made Bronco6G mods for speed), after you get your Bronco up to speed, what do you do about brakes to slow down or bring it to a stop?

Congrats. Huge!

Would you expect a similar optimal launch technique for a tuned Raptor with 94 octane at around 460 hp?

I'm having fun playing with launches and going for personal bests.

When traction is sub optimal and from a roll, she'll spin through most of 1st gear.

FP tuned? I would say a low 14 second run probably.

Sport or Baja
4HI
Bring it up to about 3k rpm
1st gear launch

I like this- thanks for sharing. I would love to do intake, exhaust and E85 tune. This might wake the Bronco up enough to keep up with lead foot traffic around my area. I have 2 gas stations within 2 miles of me that have E85 and it's so much cheaper than 87 octane gas too. I could afford to drive my Bronco to work too. LOL.

What does the E85 tune entail and can I do it myself? I have done many exhausts and intakes but never a tune.
