@MMWILD (or any others that have made Bronco6G mods for speed), after you get your Bronco up to speed, what do you do about brakes to slow down or bring it to a stop?
I think the brakes are adequate. My wife says otherwise, but I will upgrade to a more robust rotor and pad setup when the OEM stuff needs to be replaced.

I like this- thanks for sharing. I would love to do intake, exhaust and E85 tune. This might wake the Bronco up enough to keep up with lead foot traffic around my area. I have 2 gas stations within 2 miles of me that have E85 and it's so much cheaper than 87 octane gas too. I could afford to drive my Bronco to work too. LOL.

What does the E85 tune entail and can I do it myself? I have done many exhausts and intakes but never a tune.
You'll need to order the tune from ZFG Racing. This is the least expensive way to do it:

Ford Bronco World's First 12-Second 1/4 Mile 6G Bronco 1732121010129-0r

Here's a rundown of the process:
  • You will need to schedule a time with ZFG Racing to do the custom tune install. Can take about an hour or so.
  • ZFG will ship you a "Cracked" ECU - You can choose from either a new or used option
  • ZFG will ship you a laptop. You will need to unpack it and connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
  • You will also need to connect the laptop to your Bronco through the OBDII port throughout the tuning process
  • ZFG will remotely connect to the laptop and start the process using a number of tools. You will need to cycle the key on an off a dozen times. They will also carry over your Forscan changes.
  • After they are done with the stock ECU, you will need to connect the cracked ECU. No need to fully install it at this point, just unplug the three ECU connectors and connect to the cracked ECU.
  • ZFG will get to work on the Laptop again and then flash the ECU with the HP tuners device.
  • Keep in mind, this whole time you'll be communicating with ZFG Racing via text message and you will have to key cycle a dozen times or so. Might also be a good idea to have a battery trickle charger on hand.
  • Once the tuning is complete you'll swap the stock ECU with the cracked one. Seems daunting, but not hard. I plan to do a video to show the process.
  • The Bronco will be loaded with a base tune, so you'll need to go out on the street and do some logs. Typically he wants to see a 4th gear pull from 2K to redline. You'll need a laptop and the HP tuners device & software to log these pulls. After about 4 logs and revisions you should be good to go.
  • You will use the same laptop used to log to flash the new tune revisions to your Bronco.
  • Once you are done with tuning revisions ZFG can guide you on how to use the HP Tuners TDN app to flash a tune with your phone.
  • You will repeat the logging process for every octane tune that you buy.

Thanks for this! I'm surprised there are no mechanical changes to fuel pump or the injectors? This for sure must void the factory warranty. I have 5 months left as mine is a 2022 and I am starting think about mods.............

Yes, this will void your powertrain warranty. Since the Bronco has dual injection it's got plenty to keep up with the demands from the stock turbos. If you go bigger turbos then you'll need to upgrade the port injectors. No need to touch the fuel pump.

Powertrain warranty is 5/60, so you have much more than 5 months unless you’re close to 60k miles.

Now drag race it with no doors or roof. Shed the weight and see how she does.
No doors, no roof, no spare, no back seats, no passenger seat, no floor mats, no junk in the center console or glove box, no tools, no jack, no beauty rings, etc.

Although I do question how the air resistance difference of top & doors on vs off may affect times. Would be interesting to learn if nothing else.

Maybe the biggest impact would be ditching the Squatch wheels for RTR or other lightweights. The Evo6’s are only 22.5# each. The Tech6’s are 26#. IIRC, the Squatch wheels are chunky at 34-35# each. That’s a nice weight savings in the more meaningful unsprung weight category.

It is even on my 2022? So I still have 2 years left then. I will never get 60K in 5 years as I only have 13K now. I would at least like to do Rousch intake and CAT back exhaust. Will that also void the powertrain warranty for just the minor increase in power? If so I have too much warranty left. I don't drive the Bronco much- I have a commuter vehicle that gets better MPG.

This horse has been beat to death, but your warranty isn’t just magically voided when you do any mod. However, if have done a mod that is determined to be the culprit of the failure your claim can be denied and potentially that PORTION of your warranty lost.

It can be a headache, depending on the dealer. Back in my Jeep days, we always bought from a few dealerships and had certain mods done through them as they were “mod friendly” and if you were spending money to upgrade with them, there weren’t any real issues. Not all dealers shared their philosophy. The point stands….a dealer can make your life good or bad. Choose wisely.

Yes. All Ford's have a 5 year/60k mile powertrain warranty.
Intake and exhaust wont void your warranty.

I've been eyeing these wheels. My brother bought them for his Whippled F150 and they look great.

Hey all,

It's been a long time coming, but I finally did it. I became the the first 6G Ford Bronco to do a 12 second 1/4 mile down the Drag Strip. I ran down the track a total of seven times. Five of which were either 13.0 or 13.1. I also ran a 12.99, but my best time was 12.89 @ 101.76. Many months ago I was able to achieve a 12 second 1/4 mile via a Dragy device, but it's nice to do it "officially". Before some of you comment "You bought the wrong vehicle" Yes, I know the Bronco is not a drag racing machine, but I wanted to do something different instead of building a rock crawler or high speed off-roader. I still take my Bronco off-road and enjoy the outdoors, but 90%+ of the time I'm driving it on the streets and now that it's faster it's a lot more enjoyable to drive.

Here's a full list of the performance modifications it took to get her in the 12's. I know for a fact you can get there with less modifications, but achieving 12's on the street vs. the drag strip are two different things when you're on the stock 35" Goodyears. I suspect lighter and sticker tires would get you there with just a Tune, intake, exhaust, and intercooler. The stock Goodyears hook much better on the streets.

IMG_E3679.JPG

The biggest increase in HP/TQ is going to come from the @ZFGracing E85 tune. Adam from ZFG Racing is one of the best Ecoboost tuners out there and holds the most Ecoboost records when it comes the fastest 1/4 mile times. I know most people don't have an E85 pump next to their house, but their 93 tune only makes 40 HP less or so, which still turns the Bronco into a beast. I'll be doing a full review/video on how to tune your Bronco with ZFG/HP tuners as I know the process may seem a little daunting for most.

It was a slow day at the Fayetteville, NC Drag strip, but beat everything I raced. Keep in mind, nothing I raced was really that fast.

Here's a list
  • Mustang 3.7L w/Exhaust
  • 90's 5.0 Fox body with bolt-ons
  • 2020 F150 2.7L with CAI
  • Mustang 2.3L with a huge turbo (He would've smoked me, but let off mid way down the track, as he's still working out some tuning bugs) Best time he ran was a 12.5
Lots of the regulars and old timers came up to me and expressed their love for the Bronco. They thought It was a sleeper got a kick out of it beating the other cars down the track. One guy even thought I was running nitrous - lol!

My best run was in "Sand mode" which Adam from ZFG Racing turned into "Drag mode". The shifts are quicker and it revs higher between each shift.

Here's what I did.
  • 2nd Gear Launch
  • 4 High
  • Advance Trac off
  • Rear locker on (Turned it off after I launched)
  • Left the line at 2.5K RPMs
  • Goodyears @ 30 psi
On the street I can leave the line harder (Around 2.75-3K) RPMs
I do get better times on the streets via the Dragy device, as you can see below.

IMG_E3670.JPG

I put together a video showcasing the trip and an overview of the performance modifications I've made to my Bronco. I'll post some pics below as well.

Unfortunately, the track scoreboards were not working and the date and times on their slips were from over a decade ago...haha

Also, reaction times were terrible as i was looking at my tachometer trying to launch a bit better.

This was my best run - Number 7 vs. 17

Such a large brick flying through the quarter-mile at that speed is amazing. Adam is really well known on the Explorer ST side of things and does amazing stuff.

That's a lot of power to push a brick that fast down the road. I'm not seeing any driveline updates. Do you have anything planned? Any fears of breakage in CV's or driveshaft connection points?

It made 400 WHP & 482 WTQ before the Downpipes, charge pipes, ported IM & TB, and Boomba Racing spacers. That’s in 5th gear on a Dyno Jet (SAE)

As far as the drivetrain, I've had the front driveshaft squeak issue that others have had, so I plan to replace it. Also, both front wheel hubs need to be replaced as they're making noise. The driver's side started making noise awhile back, after I jumped it :) and now the passenger side is making noise after the day at the track. So yeah, wheels hubs could be an issue, but everything is stock and it's held up very well. I've launched the truck hard over 100 times and I'm not easy on it. Overall, I'm very impressed with the drivetrain.

That's about the power it took from my 93 Ford Thunderbird which had similar weight, but much lighter wheels/tires than on your's. I had fueling issues and had methanol injection, but had let off just before the traps, so my 12.98 likely would have been deeper had I not left off (speed was 103mph) where I had a 13.01 at 120mph the run before.

I let off on the 12 due to the lambda meter freaking out and I still had to drive the car 150 miles home. Takes a lot of power to move over 4000 pounds. (This was a super charged v6)
