Ok, so I have been back and forth with my dealer on the roof rack/rails being N/A with Sasquatch (4dr). Apparently it is because of GVWR limitations. Which means, Ford is building the Bronco right up to the edge of the legal maximum GVWR and there isn't ANY room to add another pound. Sure, you can add all the after market stuff you want, which will illegally push your vehicle over the GVWR. Did you know you can be ticketed and fined for that? Did you know that if you have an accident with injuries with a vehicle that exceeds its GVWR that you can be criminally charged? Not cool Ford, not cool.

It just doesn’t make much sense. If you can’t put 50 pounds on the roof, how do they expect you to sit in and drive it?
Passengers and cargo for the available cargo space are factored in to the GVWR...that is standard.

How do Jeeps get past this? Have you seen some of the loadouts on those Jeeps!

Uggghhh. You’ve got to be kidding me. So a 2.7L badlands on regular suspension is maxed out and you can’t get sound deadening on the roof!? Because B&P locks it out so I guess it may not be a glitch as expected.

I’m so pissed. I finally thought I found a workaround through all this nonsense. MIC top for a badlands A51 instead of waiting for a mod top on the OBX with AMB.

Now need to wait many months ordering the padding. I don’t even know if this is something that has to be done at the factory, not the dealer. Like if it needs to be pressed on at the factory. Could beg the question why no get a soft top and wait for the mod top. Might as well revert back to my AMB OBX mod top build.

This could potentially be the must frustrating thing yet since the smallest detail for the added weight of roof sound deadening could have me totally changing my build again.

Hopefully the padding is a basic stick on that the dealer could easily do.

Calm down. It'll be super easy to add it yourself. There will almost certainly be aftermarket options as well.

Besides, that likely IS a B&P bug because sound deadening is included on the FE 4 door which is Sasquatch'd

I reread my post and it definitely came off as psychotic. Lol.

I hope so. I feel like I finally solved my build, and don’t have much tolerance left for any more future changes. Thanks for calming me down. My wife won’t allow me to vent about the bronco anymore, so I’m losing it over this stuff. Haha

This is also for a non-squatched Badlands too... with the 285 tires. (and the 2.7)...

A colleague and I spent some more time on the B&P and noted a few other vehicles that could be in the same situation (all 4 doors):
The FE will not let you order a roof rack at all... and you are locked out of the tow hitch items ...
For the Wildtrack, it will not let you order roof racks or rails... but you CAN get items on the tow hitch

For grins... I went crazy on a 4 door 2.3 badlands (not squach) and it let me do everything...
Reality means that I guess I am stuck with a 2.3 engine... I need the roof rails for kayaking and skis/snow boards...

Most of the talk about GVWR seems to originate with B&P not letting you add a rack to the Sasquatch or the 2.7L engine, and everyone guesses it must be due to GVWR.

But this is the same system that says you can't get PPF with a 2.7L engine, and I don't believe the PPF weighs enough for GVWR to be a factor. Especially when the same system with let me throw a winch on that same vehicle with the 2.7.

In short, absent some official explanation from Ford, I don't believe anyone knows why some of the restrictions exist in B&P. And there's a good chance dealers are just as likely to spread the GVWR rumor so they appear knowledgeable.

The roof insulation kit will most likely be very similar to Jeep. There are dozens of videos on YouTube showing how to install it.
