My 2023 Bronco has the factory warranty expiring next month. I wanted to check with the group whether they suggest purchasing an extended warranty. I've read mixed things on the forums about them not covering various items (hardtops, vinyl seat tears, etc.) Was wondering if anyone else had issues with Ford denying coverage for issues they thought were genuine manufacturer defects?

Thanks!
Yes, definitely… absolutely worth it, as long as it’s the Ford Protect extended warranty. It’s especially useful if you plan on keeping the vehicle throughout the extended warranty, but it’s also transferable should you decide to sell under the warranty period.

In simplest terms, it's worth it if you need it. It's not if you don't.

I can recall 21 new cars I've purchased. I needed a warranty on a total of one. Cost me $12K out of pocket. So far I'm ahead not getting the warranty, but the odds are ever changing. How lucky do you feel and can you afford the out of pocket if you had to?

I've owned Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Volvo, Genesis, Hyundai, Jeep, and BMW. Volvo is the one that cost me money. Probably not the brand out of those you would have expected.

I'm in the same boat - my 3yr / 36k warranty on my '23 Badlands expires in June.

That being said, I have aftermarket parts (Eibach coilovers, UCAs) and plan to do more suspension upgrades.

My concern is that all the aftermarket stuff will be an automatic "Not covered" by the extended warranty and it's just money down the drain.
My 3/36 just expired in Feb and I was thinking about the extended warranty but I also figured with the mods (intercooler, charge pipes, intake, FPP tune, exhaust, coilovers, 37's) they would find an excuse not to cover things so I'm out of warranty now. My truck only has 9K miles on it after 38 months so I'm not too concerned.

The more famous tactic is for dealers to just claim “oh Ford said so”
When in reality, it’s just a crap dealer that doesn’t want to help their customer with a concern.

The chances that Ford actually claimed a defect is now normal without documentation supporting it or saying why, is slim to none.

If Ford actually claimed this, there would be some type of documentation/SSM/GSB, but I’m willing to bet you didn’t get any of that. Just the word of your dealer.
Sounds like your typical dealer scapegoat tactic.
Dealer handed me the bulletin on Friday re "normal turbo noises like rattling, swooshing, whistling and turbine side play on shaft ". May have put it in the door pocket will look for the bulletin #..

Had a 3 S60 T6 between 2014 and 2022....same platform as Fusion....they were all great cars with far less issues and zero hassle warranty unlike 2020 Mustang HPP convertible with endless 10R80 issues, window rattles....and Bronco rattling turbos and windows, cam phaser, screen, rear camera......but I enjoy Mustang and Bronco way more.

Yeah let us know what the number is, because I looked through all bulletins for the bronco and didn’t see anything like that.

Just a thought...I did get the extended warranty and right at 36,000 miles...out of factory warranty my driver side vent when on AC was putting out hot air...the dealer said its an "actuator" and will costs $1,300 to fix...they had to pull the dash out and in the shot for 5 days. When I picked it up the bill was $100.00 deductible which I gladly paid. I'm thinking these things are all electronic, if your going to keep it I think it's worth it...in my opinion...

Make sure you balance the miles and time duration. My wife puts on 30k miles a year so a 115k warranty is less than 4 years. She made 15 months with her factory warranty.

i’m in the market for another Bronco raptor. I’ve been looking at a 2022 with 20,000 miles on it and I’m trying to locate a company that’s willing to offer an extended warranty on it. My local dealer is wanting way and much.

I’ve looked at Granger Ford and Ford website they go back to 2023 for warranty coverage.

You're likely outside the timeframe to be able to get a Ford ESP on that. And the VAST majority of 3rd party extended warranties aren't worth a whole lot.

That's why we've been getting them on newer vehicles. With all the electrical controls on these things, the costs to repair are astronomical, even if you DO take it to an independent shop. Just a few bills like yours and the warranty has paid for itself.

Like others have said, it's worth it if you need it and not if you don't.

Back in 2014 we purchased a CPO F150 w/30K miles on it. We purchased an extended warranty "CPO Wrap".

That warranty paid for itself and for all the extended warranties ever purchased. I have a folder full of repairs that were done on that vehicle. No exaggeration, it totaled close to $20K in repairs during it's life.

It paid for itself just to repair the driver side blend door actuator. The part alone was about $40 at the time, but I was told the labor would have been over $2K to get at it.

I was a bit nervous going with Ford again with the Bronco, but sure as hell, I did get the Ford ESP.

I bought the Ford extended warranty from Granger. They just paid for an $1,100 repair that the standard warranty would not have covered.

I don't use my car for commuting, just pleasure, so it's low mileage. My Subaru had 95,000 miles after 20 years. Same with my Bronco. Granger wants a little over $2,000 for a ten year 60,000 mile warranty. But reading the small print. I won't get an additional 10 years, I'll only get 7 because the clock starts ticking on my Bronco's delivery date, not when I buy the warranty. Same with mileage. So for $2,030 I'd get another 7 years and 53,000 miles protection. I can put the $2,000 into an emergency fund that will go a long way to covering any repairs that would be covered by the warranty. And if nothing breaks, I'll have around $3,000. And the longer before anything breaks, the more money I'll have to pay for the repair.

And Ford must figure any potential repairs would be less than $2000 or they wouldn't expect a profit on the warranty.

I've been on this forum for four years. Judging from the posts, I don't think something expensive (over $2000) is likely to break. All the electronics now have three years use. Funnything about electronics, once you get past the infant mortality period, electronics become less likely to break. They don't wear out, unlike mechanical components. But the potential for expensive electronic repairs is how the dealers try to talk you into getting a warranty. They never talk about anything mechanical breaking, yet mechanical parts get more likely to break as time goes on.
