As long as the original warranty is in effect, you can buy it, but the higher the mileage or older the vehicle, the more you'll pay. Buy it at or near time of purchase and pay one price. Buy it at 2 years and 30k miles and it'll cost more.

I'm thinking about getting it, but I'll hold off for a while. If I see many issues pop up here, especially when some people have some miles on their rig, I'll buy it online from one of the Ford dealers that sell at deep discount. But I won't buy it when I pick it up. I'll wait a year or two, see how these hold up.
I never buy these warranties for other things and never had anything fail under warranty, but with these modern cars being full of sensors and cameras and computers, repairs can get expensive quickly.

I'm not a fan of them not running an extra 6 years, but just add 3 years to the end of the regular warranty, they're really not giving you what they sell with their "six year extended..." warranty. Kind of odd they can advertise it as something it clearly is not.

Whatever comes first. Drive 25K a year and you get 4 years out of it, etc...

I’m going 8yr/100k because I don’t drive much. Should stay under 12k a year. That being said, I asked my dealer about the ESP and send Flood Ford’s pricing and they said they would match it. Worth a shot to those of you shopping around.

Yes. Get all the warranties. It's a first year and everything will cost more than normal to fix for a while. Get all the coverage. From experience, it's beyond worth it

I think it is helpful to differentiate what is covered under a 3 year/36 month bumper to bumper warranty and what is covered under the 5 year/ 60 month powertrain warranty.

Ford's premiumcare covers almost everything on the automobile. A lot of what you think is covered under the powertrain warranty is actually covered under the comprehensive (which is much shorter). Extending the powertrain warranty to 150K miles is relatively inexpensive (under $1,500). The kicker is covering the $1,200 AC compressor or $1,500 infotainment screen.

I’ve stopped buying extended warranties because Clark Howard said so.

But seriously, owned a few of them and not once have I needed it. Guess that’s a good thing, but also means I lost the bet. Think last one added $2500 to my out the door price. That’s significant.

For those suggesting always get the warranty. Be careful offering advice with anecdotal evidence. It’s not a one size fits all.

I got it on my last vehicle and the peace of mind is well worth it. Plus I think that's the first I've heard of a jeep with no issues. Lucky!

no issues outside of base warranty.

radio failed, Water leak. A pillar.
During base warranty.

no issues that a extended warranty would have helped.

ford ESP warranty can be had for $200 over wholesale.
Just look, or negotiate…
