So, I change my own oil and i have NEVER had oil come out like a cow pissing on a flat rock. THe flow of drain oil overwhelms my drain pan. I literally use a 2 gallon bucket to catch it so it doesnt go everywhere. The great news is that the hardest part is getting the skid plate off and I LOVE how easy the filter is to change. I change at roughly 3K as well, every turbo engine is different, this is my 4th turbo engine and they really are harder on oil. I run my ranger to 4 or 5K as it seems to be fine with it. Let me know if anyone else has oil interval comments.
Send some of your 3k mile oil to Blackstone and have an analysis done. Unless you treat that motor worse than a redheaded stepchild you'll realize that short of an interval is just a waste of money.

My bronco isnt having prostate issues,,,,, all joking aside, i saw a dude that had an oil plug replacement that makes this goes away. Im thinking heavily about it.
… people with inboard boat motors know there’s a simple hose that does the trick. Mercury Marine sells a hose. Or just build your own. Mine will drain right next to the oil filter channel.

So replace your drain plug with a Fumoto F107SX drain valve (2.3L and 2.7L). Then, draining oil is easy peasy.

Yep, my 3.5EB is also a total shit show. The plastic plug is perhaps the dumbest design I've ever dealt with. The trick is to not remove the plug, but to keep it mostly in and just pull it out a tiny bit/tilt it until you get a decent flow of oil. After most of the oil is out, you can pull the plug fully without a huge mess.

Alternatively, you can buy something like this which makes it a bit easier:

Technically the factory plugs are single use (though I reuse mine as long as the seal looks good), so the cost of this or similar designs is less of a sticker shock after factoring that in -- since they are not single use.

One method that may help if you stick with the stock drain plug...do not take the oil filler cap or the oil filter off prior to pulling the drain plug. It will come out way slower. Then, once you have the stream managed pull the cap and proceed with the filter change. Works for me anyway.

I like this idea, and I will try this first before spending for the Fumoto.

Get the Ronin Factory oil drain plug. Makes it much easier.
This is it, available on Amazon.

The drain spout (smaller black piece, top) allows you to adjust the rate of flow to your preference. I keep it in a little zip-lock bag, which in turn is in a larger zip-lock bag where I keep my wheel lock key, a couple of often-used hex wrenches, and stuff like that, with my tire tools. I always know where they are.

Also, aren't you supposed to replace the OEM plastic drain plug every change? Does anybody actually do that? I see sets of five and ten on Amazon. Anyway, this drain plug/spout solves that matter.

On the Raptor, the sump is flat and the oil can be drained from the top via a siphon. I did my first oil change with a Schwaben vacuum oil extractor (manual pump).

After I couldn't get any more oil out, I crawled underneath and pulled the drain plug. Nothing came out. I replaced the plug, changed the filter (which is also up top) and was GTG. I use the same method on my German cars and they now have extractors that can also be powered by air compressors making it even easier and faster.

I don't know if the other engine offerings have a flat sump designed for extraction or not but might be worth looking into. Cow piss is no joke.

lol... I don't know what I'm doing wrong... my 2.3 oil change is about as clean & easy as it gets... 🤔

Anyone with poor dexterity should look into a Stahlbus valve. 🤠

My Merc with that set up would take most the afternoon to drain even hot.

… lol You must have a Chevy.
Works great as a drain or if placed next to valve cover as a suction fitting

you do have to open the oil fill cap so it breathes

the 2.3 is not bad at all sans the filter location.
