Before the Bronco I just used the basic button that clips to the visor. Never had a problem with the cheap ones from Home Depot or Amazon.

I have a similar one clipped to the front latch for the hard top panel over the driver's seat. Works great.

I've been in a similar spot trying to find alternatives, and while browsing, I discovered kozmogaragedoors.com. They offer quick and reliable garage door opener services. It's great for anyone considering repairs or upgrades, especially with their impressive service rating. The fact that they support veterans and seniors with discounts is a nice touch too.

I actually use CarPlay more to open and close my opener than the visor buttons and the range is far superior. If your opener has myQ it's easy to integrate.

I did the mirror replacement with the Toyota one and have been very happy with it - link and more info below. The mirror itself is a bit bigger than the OEM one which is nice but no one would ever know it's not factory.

Here is the Amazon link:
https://a.co/d/3QvdGTw

I saw them listed for around $120-130 elsewhere but I got free next day shipping with Prime at $150 so thats a no-brainer.

Here's another thread with a video of how to do the mirror swap with this Toyota mirror:
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/toyota-accessory-homelink-mirror-for-bronco.51466/

The only drawback here is that the battery in the mirror is sealed. Meaning once it dies you gotta buy a whole new mirror. I'm guessing (hoping) I'll get at least five years out of the battery and if so that'll be worth it for me. There may be other options that don't have a sealed battery but this made the most sense to me and was a breeze to install.

Watching the video, it looks like the Toyota mirror is maybe a bit taller, yet a bit narrower. On my Bronco mirror, it is very easy to adjust it in a manner that causes interference with the visor. When my wife drives it and changes the mirror, I have to readjust it, then check visor clearance which is annoying. If that mirror is truly narrower, it actually might be better. Did you find any benefit to the size being different?

I did not measure it but I find there is a wider field of view with the new mirror. Also it's "frameless" (i.e. there is no plastic lip around the edge - glass goes all the way to the end). It's possible that the mirror is overall larger or it's possible that perhaps the new mirror just slightly wider angle (more convex/concave - not sure which makes for a wider angle), but I feel like there is more visibility with the new mirror. Not a huge difference but noticeable.

I was very upset at the lack of an opener when I first got my BRaptor however I clipped the opener on the visor and forgot about it. The thing I find strange is the size of the visor itself. The thing is huge and if try to use it, it blocks my field of view.

How did you integrate it? I've seen using the IFTTT app to link to MyQ then use Siri but there's a subscription for that now and paying to open/close my garage door is not a top priority.

I have a '24 Badlands with the homelink but am looking for a way to use Siri, not just from the car.

Install on your garage door opener (takes 10 min.)
Install the app.
Connect it to your opener.
Never have to touch the app again.
When you're within a few hundred yards of your house, a tile pops up on Carplay with the garage door status. Just press it to open.
Literally the least amount of headspace required to use.

I was skeptical but this thing is the real deal. No issues in the 6 months I've used it.
My favorite feature of the universal is that it doesn't work if the car's not turned on. With the regular remote in the car, someone could open my garage if my car was unlocked. Whether or not it's valid to worry about that when I don't worry about locking my car is an issue I'll have to discuss with my therapist.

But meanwhile, I'm curious - does this thing work if the key is not in the car?

The only thing it interacts with is CarPlay via Apple Home. You can open your garage door via the Apple Home app on your iPhone, thr CarPlay app on the Bronco or just through Siri. So yes it requires both your fob to be in the car AND the Bronco to be ‘on’. It doesn't interface with anything specific to the Bronco and would work in the same way with any other car you own that has CarPlay.

I didn't realize that the myQ Home Bridge was discontinued. That allows HomeKit functionality.
