Has anyone come across a like velcro backed headliner to stick to the original carpet headliner?
Id like to cut down on wind noise for the wife, but dont want to go through stripping and prepping the MIC top carpet

update: saw hot heads, do they actually help? I wish Ford had offered an all one piece top.

There are no shortcuts. Most of the noise is from Windshiield surround and mirrors beter off getting two sets of nosie cancellong ear buds youll still be ablemto converse amd depending on the model enjoy music.

I would love to see someone try to isolate the various causes of noise inside a Bronco. It wouldn't be easy, but it would be possible. You could take noise measurements with mirrors and without, same with other potential noise sources. For my 4-dr hardtop badlands, I think significant factors are a) tires (Goodyear Territory RTs) as I can hear tire noise at 40mph. Next up would be the side windows (and side window seals), as you can really hear wind noises especially if they are crossing winds. Undercarriage noise might also be a factor, but no easy way to eliminate.

I know the cause of my wind noise is a 1/16” gap between the middle panel and the sport bar over the rear passenger door, and the 1/8” gap between the rear clamshell and the middle panel. I can see daylight through the gaps. But it doesn’t leak so I can live with that.

Road noise. Tires and zero body panel noise control from Ford on extremely thin flexible panels. Fix is sound deadening treatment. Don’t use the cheapest thin stuff you can find.

Wind noise is top materials, design and shape of vehicle. Soft top, MIC laminated cardboard and the thin fiberglass version. Add all the gaps between panels and along top of side glass. Fix. Not much really. Wrong vehicle if you want quiet. The carpet on the roof is really just to control sound inside from reflecting off the hard surface. Does nothing for noise coming from outside.

Some long towels rolled up and wedged between roll bar/roof over the side windows makes a difference on the soft top. Perhaps same on hard top. And it’s serves as a place to store them.

I bought the hothead liner for the hard top shell and my bestop sunrider and the liners did make a noticeable difference.

You nailed it when you said "Wrong vehicle if you want quiet"!

I agree. We have a '22 2-door MIC top WT. My wife and I really don't think it is loud, particularly considering what the Bronco is. It is noisier than our 4-dr Painted Top WT (a few very annoying squeaks/rattles aside), though. It's really noisy with the top off. So use "Top Off" as baseline noise level and then it's like a hushed library with the top on. :)

I suppose if you don't have an appreciation and love for the awesomeness that comes with the noisier features, it's just plain old noisy compared to something considerably more boring and minivanish like a Highlander.

Ladies and gents, YOU bought a Bronco=noise, it's not a whisper jet, I'm glad you're trying to reconfigure to quiet the noise, when you figure it out let me know, my hearing was trashed while working as a jet engine mech. So I hear noise, but not as someone with perfect hearing.
Good luck in your venture.

I could be wrong, but I suspect your exhaustion of cabin noise will be replaced with other exhausting issues that are likely more expensive.

maybe, but the Bronco hasn’t been smooth sailing for many people on the forum. I’m lucky to have my major issue fixed under warranty.

I did something similar on my hard top. I used foam pipe insulation over the front and rear windows. Two 6 foot pieces. It significantly reduced wind noise up to about 50. After that, it helps a bit. It is somewhat quieter at 70. Every little bit helps.

Ford had the tools 20 years ago. Ultrasonic gun show gaps, “smoke” machine does the same. On my Bronco I hear the Goodyears roaring and the wind noise from the top. The wind noise is louder.
